Presents:
TITLE: X-MEN 4: M-DAY
FADE IN:
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
The streets of New York filled with many people, of
many ethnicities. On the sidewalks they cower in
terror. Filled with Fear.
Mutants over run the streets. Attacking, protesting
making their cause known.
Military Vehicles roll down the road. Heavily armoured.
Tank like. They pass a billboard that reads:
"ALL MUTANTS MUST REGISTER: MUTANT REGISTRATION ACT"
Mutants refuse to move. A voice, loud and projected
over a megaphone speaks.
VOICE (V.O)
Attention all mutants, If you do
not cease and desist action will
be taken.
The mutants neither cease nor desist and begin to pound
and rock the tank like vehicles.
VOICE (V.O) (CONT'D)
Cease and desist, or we will
take military action.
The mutants, of all different varieties RUSH FORWARDS
TO ATTACK THE VEHICLES ignoring the pleas from voice
inside the Tank.
VOICE (V.O) (CONT'D)
Cease and desist ... Cease and
desist immediately or we will be
voices to take action..
The vehicles rounds a corner and NATIONAL GUARDSMEN
with Riot Shields spring into action. They force the
rioting mutants back as they continue to picket.
MUTANT IN CROWD #1
No More Registration Act!
The mutant mob charge towards the National Guardsmen,
they are violently beaten off.
A young mutant on the sidewalk stalks the truck,
blending into the background, PYRO.
The line of vehicles stop. The military blockade hold
the mutants back.
Soldiers empty from the trucks, like ants from an
anthill.
BOOM
A ball of fire is launches at the tank-like vehicle at
the foot of the row, it explodes and is sent flying
into the air. It flips and crashes down on the one
behind it.
SOLIDER #1 and several other troops single out a
section of the crowd.
SOLDIER #1
Up against the wall! Now!
The soldiers, threatening the mutant crowd with their
weapons back most of them against a nearby wall.
From the final Tank, out steps Head of Homeland
Security BOLIVAR TRASK.
TRASK
What's going on here?
SOLDIER #1
These mutants attacked the
motorcade sir.
TRASK
Have you checked their
registration papers?
SOLDIER #1
Just about to sir.
The group of soldiers line up the group of mutants as
more shout obscenities at the soldiers.
MUTANT IN CROWD
What about our human rights?!
Trask turns to the rioting crowd. They fall almost
silent.
TRASK
Human rights? Do you think you
qualify? Do you think you fall
under the category of human. You
have no rights, Mutant.
The Mutant in the crowd spits at Trask, cheers erupt
from the crowd.
Trask wipes the saliva off of his brow nonchalantly.
Soldiers cart the mutant in the crowd away.
SOLDIER #1
(Taps Trask on the
shoulder)
Sir, this one doesn't have his
registration papers.
Soldier #1 points to a morbidly obese man, beyond
obese. He looks as if he has his own gravitational
pull. BLOB. The Blob's lip quivers. The young man
standing next to him smiles a sly smile.
PYRO
That's because he hasn't
registered.
TRASK
And why is that?
PYRO
Because we're mutants, not
animals.
TRASK
And I suppose you're one of
those peace seeking mutants,
"We're not dangerous, we just
want to be like everyone else"
is that it?
PYRO
No -- Actually, I'm the
opposite.
CLICK.
With a flash Pyro launches a second fireball, Trask and
his soldiers duck as the flames fly past. They find
their mark, the third Tank is set ablaze.
The crowd disperses in fear, they seek safety from the
fire throwing mutant.
Soldiers, quickly recovering raise their weapons and
FIRE.
Pyro disappears behind the man known as Blob.
The shots, echo one after the other. Round after round
being fired. The bullets disappearing in the enormous
gut of Blob.
SILENCE. Every last round expended.
The soldiers stand in awe as Blob is completely still.
He looks down, as the bullets trickle like rain drops
to the floor. Bar the indentations in his generous
supply of flesh he's completely unaffected.
Blob smiles.
The Soldiers scatter, losing their nerve now their
weapons have no effect.
Blob and Pyro stand over Trask.
PYRO (CONT'D)
No more registration.
CLICK
Trask looks as a lighter is flicked alight, a ball of
fire held perfectly in Pyro's palm. Pyro, wild eyed
raises his hand, the heat causing Trask to perspire.
BANG
A shot from one of the soldier's weapons. Soldier #1
approaches Trask as Pyro and Blob flee.
SOLDIER #1
Are you OK sir?
Trask stares blankly for a moment.
SOLDIER #1 (CONT'D)
What is your condition sir?
Trask snaps to attention.
TRASK
I'm fine. Put a call through to
Washington, tell The President
to move forward with the
Sentinel initiative. We need to
detain all of these bastards
before it's to late.
CUT TO:
EXT. CITY STREETS - NIGHT
Mutants of all shapes, sizes and colours riot on the
ground. Destroying buildings, fighting one another.
The X-JET hovers mere feet from the ground. The ramp
lowers from the back, basked in light stands the X-MEN.
Our Hero shot...
We see; the white haired leader of the group ORORO
MUNROE (STORM), the animal like LOGAN (WOLVERINE) with
his wild black hair. He could be in his 40's, but he
has eyes that seem almost ageless.
Beside him stands the young towering form of PETER
RASPUTIN (COLOSSUS), KITTY PRYDE young, delicate but
with a hidden strength of her own. BOBBY DRAKE(ICEMAN),
cool, calm, collected. And finally WARREN WORTHINGTON
(ANGEL) with his impressive angel like wingspan.
Warren soars overhead, forcing the crowd to part.
Wolverine leaps from the rear of the Jet, landing on
the concrete below.
The others follow behind him.
Wolverine begins separating several of the rioters.
None seem to happy at the intervention.
STORM
Please, stop this!
The roar of disapproval from the crowd is unanimous.
STORM (CONT'D)
This rioting solves nothing!
The mutant rioters become increasingly aggressive.
STORM (CONT'D)
Please! Stop!
Pieces of debris are hurled at the X-Men. Bobby and
Colossus become encased in an Ice and Metallic form
respectively protecting themselves from the
projectiles.
LOGAN
I don't think they're listening.
The X-Men try to prevent a riot as a brick is thrown at
Wolverine, causing a small cut across his cheek. For a
moment the Adamantium skeleton that lies beneath is
revealed. The wound begins to knit back together as
Wolverine unleashes his claws.
Wolverine bears down on the rioting mutants, most back
away afraid.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
Storm...
Storm rises into the air and the rumbling off thunder
can be heard over head.
It begins to pour with rain, and the rioters are
steered back trying to find shelter from the rain storm
now pouring down in bucket loads.
As the rioters disperse we can see a wall, plastered
with "MUTANT REGISTRATION ACT" Posters and other such
Anti-Mutant Propaganda. Spray painted in the centre
reads a simple message "DIE MUTANTS!"
Wolverine approaches the posters, slicing several off
the wall with his claws.
Storm lands on the ground. She steps forward, the rest
of the group surrounding her. They look down at a
puddle, the torn poster resting in the centre. Around
it, we see the reflections of the X-Men.
CUT TO:
INT. OVAL OFFICE - NIGHT
THE PRESIDENT sits at his desk. Across the room is a
TV. The room is unusually full with the President's
aides, all watching the television broadcast.
The newscaster on the TV is in the midst of delivering
a special report.
NEWSCASTER
Earlier today the Secretary of
Mutant Affairs, Dr. Henry McCoy
was detained by the United
States Government.
On the TV screen, the fuzzy blue form of HENRY "HANK"
McCOY aka. BEAST is placed in handcuffs and guided by
three armed guards into the back of an armoured vehicle.
NEWSCASTER (CONT'D)
This comes after a string of
mutant terrorists attacks which
started with the assault on
Alcatraz Island only a few short
months ago. That attack has
served as a catalyst to a mutant
civil war; earlier today the
President of the United States
announced that the Mutant
Registration Act, first proposed
by Senator Robert Kelly has not
been as effective as first
thought. Within the next few
weeks all those mutants who
refuse to register will be
detained and held by the state
under the new Sentinel
Initiative. In some parts of the
country, this initiative has
already been enacted under the
control of one Bolivar Trask.
After this new initiative was
revealed, Hank McCoy was
relieved of his duties as United
Nations Ambassador with
immediate effect. Once he
refused to sign Registration
Papers he became the first
mutant to be detained under this
new law.
The President looks at the screen as the Newscaster's
voice continues to keep the attention of the room.
The President doesn't quite know what to make of the
report, clearly he's not entirely sure about his
decision.
NEWSCASTER (CONT'D)
The question on everybody's mind
is are these new measures too
extreme? Or not extreme enough?
...
PRESIDENT
Turn it off Bill.
The aide named Bill complies and the room begins to
empty.
The President sighs and hangs his head.
BILL
What is it Mr. President?
PRESIDENT
I can't help but feel we're
making a mistake.
TRASK (O.S)
On the contrary Mr. President.
Trask steps into view.
TRASK (CONT'D)
I believe this will be
remembered as the greatest act
of your term.
PRESIDENT
I hope you're right. Or we could
have a bigger Mutant Problem on
our hands.
TRASK
Don't worry sir. My Sentinel
units are more than capable of
dealing with any problems these
mutant terrorists can cause.
The President nods. Bolivar Trask smiles slyly.
CUT TO:
EXT. XAVIER MANSION, ENTRANCE HALL - DAY
A man, long auburn hair, an old worn black trench coat
rides a motorcycle to the front entrance.
He gets off, picks up a bag strapped to the back of the
bike and walks to the front door. KNOCK. The door is
ajar.
He opens it and walks in, his eyes revealed for the
first time. Red iris on black sclera, GAMBIT.
GAMBIT
Anybody home?
ROGUE (O.S)
I'm not interested Bobby.
A young woman, dark hair with a streak of white strides
across the front hall. Her arms and hands bare. She is
ROGUE.
Bobby follows her hurriedly.
BOBBY
Rogue, Rogue wait.
ROGUE
My name is Marie.
Bobby holds Rogue by the arms. His skin touching hers.
BOBBY
Marie, what's going on with you?
Ever since ... you know.
Bobby runs his hand down Rogue's bare arm. She swats it
away.
ROGUE
You wouldn't understand.
Rogue looks at Gambit, then to Bobby. She leaves.
Bobby eyes up Gambit before retreating into one of the
many branching rooms.
Storm, appears on the great staircase. She smiles and
runs across the hall, she throws her arms around Gambit
and hugs him tightly.
STORM
Remy, it's so good to see you.
GAMBIT
It's good to see you too Stormy.
Storm breaks her hug.
STORM
Remy LeBeau, how many times have
I told you not to call me that?
GAMBIT
Not enough, it would seem.
They laugh.
STORM
I'm just glad you finally
decided to come visit.
GAMBIT
I decided it's about time I
stopped running from my old
friend Stormy.
LOGAN (O.S)
Stormy?
Storm rolls her eyes at Gambit as she turns to look at
the source of the voice. Logan. He has a cigar in his
mouth.
Gambit glances at his hands, and more specifically the
scars that surround his knuckles.
STORM
Logan, this is Remy LeBeau.
Gambit and Logan scan one another, trying to get a read
on the other.
LOGAN
What did you say your name was?
GAMBIT
Remy -- But you can call me
Gambit.
LOGAN
Gambit?
GAMBIT
I like -- chess.
Logan lets out a slight laugh. He offers his hand and
Gambit shakes it.
Logan's grip, strong. Unbreakable, like he's made of
steel or something stronger.
GAMBIT (CONT'D)
No need to ask who you are. You
the famous Wolverine I've heard
so much about.
LOGAN
You've heard of me?
GAMBIT
Let's just say, I had an
unfortunate run in with Victor
Creed once.
LOGAN
Sabretooth?
(Logan looks to
Storm)
Storm, who is this guy?
STORM
He's a friend, he saved my life
once. I'd trust him with
anything -- except personal
belongings.
Storm smiles as does Remy.
Logan remains suspicious as he breaks the handshake.
CUT TO:
EXT. CEMETERY - DAY
The sky is grey, the wind bitter. The tress rustle, and
the clouds above threaten to rain at any minute.
A lone figure stands, defiant against the wind. Warren
Worthington III. An angelic figure stood against a cold
background.
He stands amongst headstones, some new, some old, all
highly expensive and elegant. The rich, even in death
flaunt their wealth for all to see. Vanity lingers
around the cemetery like a bad smell.
Close in on Angel's face, troubled, torn; walking a
thin line between love and hate.
He reaches under the collar of his long black coat, his
hand slipping down his back. He plucks a single white
feather from his angelic wing span.
He holds the feather before him, and lets it drift to
the ground. He watches it, peacefully fall.
Warren clenches his eyes tightly. He turns to walk away
as the feather falls to the ground.
The head stone reads "WARREN WORTHINGTON II"
The rain begins to pour now, the distant figure of
Angel draws his coat around him as the downpour
disturbs the feather's resting place.
It begins to sink into the now muddy ground, the dirt
encasing the purity and beauty of the white feather.
CUT TO:
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB - WHITE QUEEN'S OFFICE - NIGHT
TITLE: THE NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE
An attractive blonde woman dressed all in white; EMMA
FROST talks with a dark haired woman TESSA (SAGE) in a
private office.
Tessa stands whilst Emma Frost sits in a rather elegant
arm chair, her legs resting on the table in front of
her.
She nonchalantly files her finger nails barely
registering what Tessa says to her.
SAGE
Mr. Shaw has requested to see
you immediately.
EMMA FROST
Tell Sebastian I'm otherwise
engaged at the present time.
SAGE
Miss... Are you sure that's
wise?
EMMA FROST
What are you getting at Tessa?
SAGE
This isn't the first time you've
ignored one of Mr. Shaw's
requests.
EMMA FROST
I am quite aware of that Tessa.
SAGE
But --
EMMA FROST
But nothing -- I will not be
beckoned to him like some
animal. I will go when I am
ready ... and only then. Is that
clear?
Tessa does not say a word.
Emma turns to Tessa. The file remains suspended in mid
air, held by some invisible force.
EMMA FROST (CONT'D)
I said; is that clear?
Tessa does not move her mouth, but her answer is heard
loud and clear; as if Emma is hearing it from within
Tessa' mind.
SAGE (V.O)
Yes.
Frost's expression suddenly changes. The authority
gone, now replaced by a pre-emptive angst.
EMMA FROST
Get down.
Tessa and Frost both hits the deck as the large arched
window behind them shatters. Smoke begins to fill the
room.
Emma and Tessa pull themselves up amidst it, as the
smoke settles and clears two bright lights pierce the
night sky visible through the shattered window.
EMMA FROST (CONT'D)
Run.
CUT TO:
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB - CORRIDOR -NIGHT
Tessa and Frost run through the corridors of the
Hellfire Club, the building being swallowed by some
unseen force behind them.
They weave in and out of the falling debris, always
hunted, always pursued by the blinding lights that has
set its sights on them.
They have several near misses with falling debris and
other members of the club, trying to escape. Finally
Emma takes a left turn, dragging Tessa along with her.
They narrowly evade a falling beam and section of the
ceiling that plummets down behind them.
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB - GRAND BALLROOM - NIGHT
Tessa and Frost enter the Grand Ballroom, Frost closes
the doors behind her.
For a moment there is peace.
BANG.
The wall behind them collapses. The brick and dust fly
towards the two woman, covering their already cut and
scrapped faces.
BOOM.
The sound echoes from outside.
BOOM.
It sounds again. The chandeliers hanging from the
ceiling collapse to the ground.
BOOM.
Emma and Tessa slowly walks towards the gaping hole in
the wall. Drawn towards the sound, out of curiosity and
foolishness.
BOOM.
Tessa and Emma stand on the brink now, and then
suddenly, without warning;
The lights return.
Some unseen mass "steps" forward, shattering the wall
completely. The building now utterly destroyed. The
ceiling comes down in the grand ballroom. Emma and
Tessa raise their arms, trying to protect themselves
from the falling debris.
Emma and Tessa lay amongst the rubble, staring at the
sky as two military choppers fly over head. The lights
attached to them now illuminate the previously unseen
destroyer.
A towering mass of steel constructed by man for one
purpose; seek and destroy mutants. Humanoid in form,
with two great lights set in its head as eyes.
They beam down on Frost and Tessa.
SENTINEL POV;
VOICE OF THE SENTINELS
Acquiring Target.
A red hued screen, computer like, scans the surrounding
area. It arrives on the face of Emma Frost.
"SCANNING REGISTRY DATABASE"
VOICE OF THE SENTINELS
(CONT'D)
Scanning Registry Database.
Pictures of mutants, cycle through the top right and
left hand corners of the screen at lightning speed.
Suddenly the cycle stops, landing on a picture of
Frost. Underneath reads the caption;
"KNOWN MUTANT"
Suddenly replaced by;
"UN-REGISTERED MUTANT: TERMINATE"
It's cold metallic voice echoes out the order.
VOICE OF THE SENTINELS
(CONT'D)
Un-Registered Mutant:
Terminate.
The Sentinel raises it's arm, a weapon, machine gun
like in nature and purpose aimed directly at Frost and
Tessa.
Emma focuses her energy, and as the Sentinel fires
Frost's body is suddenly covered in a clear, diamond
like skin.
The rounds the Sentinel fires at her bounce away like
they were nothing, leaving her unaffected.
Finally the Sentinel steps forward, swinging with his
huge arm. Frost is swiped off the ground and hurled
through the air into one of the remaining sections of
wall. The wall cracks and crumbles down on top of her.
Tessa tries to scramble away but the Sentinel places
it's large metal foot on top of her, rendering her
helpless.
Men, equipped with weapons and dressed in military
uniforms rush forward and apprehend Tessa.
Pull back to reveal not only the Hellfire Club in
ruins, but several buildings in the surrounding area,
and not one but several of these towering Sentinels.
FADE TO
BLACK:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - DAY
Storm, Wolverine and the X-Team are gathered around a
Television Set.
On the TV we see images of what was the Hellfire Club,
as well as several other buildings.
NEWSCASTER
As you can see behind me,
already the Sentinel Initiative
is in full effect here in the
City --
Rogue looks wide eyed at the screen, the tall building
that had once stood there now lay in rubble.
A twinge of recognition flashes across Gambit's face.
ROGUE
Why would they destroy the
building like that?
NEWSCASTER
-- The chaos here in the
downtown area was caused by
rogue Mutants who refused to
sign their registration papers
under the new Mutant
Registration Act --
Wolverine scoffs.
LOGAN
Any of you believe that?
Wolverine looks around the room, who seem to be in
agreement with him.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
Me neither.
NEWSCASTER
-- The mutants in question where
subdued by these new Sentinel
units and were taken to nearby
detention centres where they
will be held and questioned --
LOGAN
Oh great. Now they're locking us
up.
STORM
We should go check out the
buildings. See if we can find
anything.
Storm rises to her feet.
ROGUE
Magneto was right all along.
STORM
No Rogue. No he wasn't. He
forced them in to this.
Doubtful faces all around.
STORM (CONT'D)
They're scared. Now come on.
Colossus, Kitty, Bobby, Jubilee, Remy and Rogue leave
the room.
Storm attempts to follow on, but Wolverine takes her by
the arm.
LOGAN
You're going to defend what
they're doing out there, with
these Sentinels?
STORM
Of course not. They have Hank
Logan, of course I don't defend
what they're doing.
LOGAN
Well it doesn't look that way.
Think about it Storm, what side
are the X-Men actually on? All
we've done for the last few
months is defend the people.
People that are locking us up
right now, for being born
different. I tried fighting for
them, the X-Men have tried. But
this -- they've taken it to far.
We failed -- and now we have to
re-think what side we're
fighting for..
STORM
No. We protect everyone
Wolverine. That is what Charles
Xavier wanted.
LOGAN
You think Charlie wanted to be
stuck in the middle playing
peace keeper, whilst Humans and
Mutants, try to obliterate each
other?
STORM
Charles wanted to protect
everyone.
LOGAN
Yeah, I'm starting to wonder
why. There's a war going on out
there. Mutants are killing
Mutants, Humans are killing
Mutants ... It's anarchy.
STORM
That's why we have to fix it.
LOGAN
By protecting the very people
that have persecuted us, and now
condemn us to this Registration
Act?
STORM
They're scared Wolverine,
they're trying to protect
themselves.
LOGAN
Why aren't we doing the same
thing?
Storm has no answer.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
We can't stop this war. We can't
stop this Sentinel Initiative.
STORM
But we have to try. And if that
means helping the very people
that would lock us up and throw
away the key ... so be it.
Storm leaves the room.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - X-JET HANGAR - DAY
Storm strides towards the X-Jet, Gambit, Colossus,
Kitty and Rogue behind her.
Jubilee runs towards them.
JUBILEE
Hey, wait for me.
Storm sighs and turns towards the young Jubilee.
STORM
Jubilee, you stay here.
JUBILEE
Why?
STORM
Because it's dangerous out
there.
JUBILEE
You're letting Rogue go. She
doesn't even have her ability
anymore.
Rogue looks uncomfortable.
STORM
Jubilation Lee, it's for your
own good. Stay here.
Storm turns and enters the jet, the others in tow.
Gambit is the last one to go. Before he does, he winks
at Jubilee as the ramp of the rear of the Jet begins to
rise.
Jubilee disappears behind it.
CUT TO:
EXT. SKY - NIGHT
The X-Jet soars over head, parting the clouds in the
night sky.
CUT TO:
EXT. HELLFIRE CLUB - NIGHT
Storm, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Rogue and Gambit search
through the rubble that was the Hellfire Club.
KITTY
Who'd do something like this?
COLOSSUS
Bad people Katya.
Gambit kicks away destroyed pieces of brick. This
rubble and destruction all too familiar for him. It
makes him uneasy.
ROGUE
Are you Ok Gambit?
GAMBIT
I'm more than Ok chere, I'm
positively delightful.
Gambit smiles at her, she laughs as they continue their
search.
STORM
Does anybody see anything?
A beat passes as the X-Men look around.
Rogue pauses, something has caught her eye. She walks
slowly towards it. She drops to her knees, pulling away
several pieces of stone as she does.
There, seemingly unconscious is Emma Frost.
ROGUE
Storm, over here!
STORM
What is it Marie?
ROGUE
I think I found someone.
The X-team hurry towards her. They stand over Frost; a
twinge of recognition flashes across Gambit's face.
STORM
Take her to the Jet.
Colossus stoops down and picks Frost up. He carries
Emma in the direction of the jet when we hear a
familiar sound;
BOOM.
The X-Men look around them.
BOOM.
This time it sounds even louder.
BOOM.
The grounds shake beneath their feet.
STORM (CONT'D)
Rogue, take her to the Jet.
Rogue looks ahead, from where the deafening sound is
coming from. She is paralyzed by fear.
STORM (CONT'D)
Rogue. Go now!
Rogue nods as Colossus passes Frost off to Rogue, Rogue
(struggling considerably more under the weight of Frost
than Colossus did) heads up the ramp and into the
safety of the X-Jet.
BOOM.
Now in plain sight is one of the towering Sentinel
units. It pauses.
SENTINEL POV:
Once again we see the Sentinel's perspective, we see it
cycle through it's registry database looking for the X
Men's identification.
The X-Men look at it wide eyed ... all but Gambit who
looks like he just got a new toy at Christmas.
KITTY
These things actually exist?
STORM
Looks that way. Everyone stay
together...
As Storm finishes her sentence the Sentinel raises it's
weapon.
VOICE OF THE SENTINELS
Un-Registered Mutant:
Terminate.
The Sentinel fires at the X-team. They are forced to
separate.
KITTY
So much for that plan.
Storm rises from the ground, her eyes clouding over.
The clouds roll in as a rumble of thunder begins to
sound in the sky.
A flash of lighting strikes just as the Sentinel
unleashes a barrage of shots. Kitty grabs Storm at the
last second and the bullets phase right through the
pair of them.
Kitty and Storm fall to the ground as the Sentinel
looks to swing at them once more--
--Colossus seeing Kitty in trouble leaps towards her,
his metallic form encases them and the Sentinel's blow
ricochets off of him.
The impact of the blow rips the Sentinel's large arm
free from its socket, sending it flying through the
air. It lands with a deafening thud against the ground.
The Sentinel swings once more with its remaining arm,
Gambit leaps into the air and lands on top of it. He
runs up the metallic limb reaching the Sentinel's
shoulders.
Gambit places his hands on top of the Sentinels’ head
charging it with Kinetic energy.
SENTINEL POV:
For a moment the image of the X-Men is distorted.
BOOM
The Sentinel's head explodes from it's shoulders. It
lands on the concrete ground, charred and blackened.
The lights that pass for eyes slowly fade to nothing.
The huge body of the Sentinel falls as Gambit leaps
from his perch, landing cat like on his feet.
Gambit nods proud of his work. He takes a bow.
STORM
Come on, let's get back to the
mansion. There may be more of
these things out here.
A Chopper soars over head, the spotlight on the base of
it shines down on the X-Men briefly.
The X-Team hurriedly rush to the Jet, Storm is the last
to move as she pauses. Looking up at the chopper
thoughtfully for a moment, before following on.
CUT TO:
INT. X-JET - NIGHT
The X-Jet is once again in flight. Storm is at the
wheel.
In her hand is one of the X-Communicators (Seen in "X
MEN 2") Storm gets in contact with Wolverine.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - NIGHT
At the Xavier Institute a ringing is heard, Wolverine
withdraws from his pocket an X-Communicator of his own.
He answers it.
LOGAN
(Over Communicator)
Storm?
INTERCUT BETWEEN WOLVERINE AND STORM
STORM
Logan. We found a woman amongst
the rubble. She's pretty badly
hurt.
LOGAN
Is she a mutant?
STORM
We're not sure. We'll know more
when she wakes up. Get the
others together, we have to
decide what we're going to do
about this.
LOGAN
And by this you mean --?
STORM
We were attacked by one of these
new Sentinels ... Logan, we're
in trouble.
INT. X-JET - NIGHT
Emma Frost begins to stir.
ROGUE
Storm, I think she's waking up.
STORM
Logan, I have to go. We'll be
back soon.
Storm puts the communicator back in it's holder and
rises to her feet.
STORM (CONT'D)
Kitty, take the wheel.
Kitty does so, replacing Storm at the helm of the Jet.
Gambit, Storm, Rogue and Colossus head to the back to
check on Frost. They stand over her as she slowly opens
her eyes.
She looks at Gambit. It goes unnoticed by the group.
EMMA FROST
I know you.
STORM
We're the X-Men, we'll look
after you.
Emma nods slowly as her head lulls back and she passes
into unconsciousness once more.
CUT TO:
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - CORRIDOR - NIGHT
Tessa is marched through the corridors of the Mutant
Detention Centre.
They pass cell after cell, very similar to the research
centre from "X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT"
Tess is cuffed and is dragged down the corridor by two
armed guards, in full riot gear.
Finally they stop.
One of the guards pulls a key card from his pocket and
swipes it against a pad to the right of one of the
cells.
The door slides open and Tessa is thrown in, the door
slides shut with a dull THUD behind her.
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - CELL - CONTINUOUS
Tessa gets to her knees, she becomes aware of a second
figure in the room.
Slowly she turns to face her cell mate.
We see a face of blue fur. HANK "BEAST" McCOY
BEAST
Hello Sage ... or is it Tessa
now?
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABORATORY - NIGHT
Medical monitors beep, keeping track of the vital signs
of Emma Frost, who lies in a bed in the middle of a
medical lab.
Her vitals are normal, save for her brain activity
which is off the charts.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The X-Team are seated around the room. Bobby sits close
to Rogue, although she seems to be pulling away.
Gambit watches them from across the room.
Storm stands in the centre.
STORM
She seems to be OK. However
after the attack by the
Sentinels she put herself in a
Psychic Cocoon for protection.
LOGAN
How long until she wakes up?
STORM
A while, her body is still
recovering from the attack, and
her mind --
LOGAN
Do you see now? Do you see what
these Sentinels will do to us?
STORM
Yes I do.
LOGAN
Maybe we should be protecting
these metal heads now too.
STORM
Logan! These Sentinels, they're
dangerous, they won't stop until
they have captured or killed
every mutant in the city.
KITTY
Magneto's war has come true.
STORM
It's because of Magneto we're in
this predicament in the first
place. If he hadn't attacked
Alcatraz --
LOGAN
No -- The Cure started this.
Warren and Rogue are both uncomfortable at the sudden
turn of the conversation. They feel the group’s eyes on
them. Rogue and Warren try to avoid eye contact.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
Them, thinking they can cure us
started this. Magneto did
exactly what we should be doing
now.
STORM
And what's that?
LOGAN
Making a stand. Fighting for our
kind.
STORM
If you hadn't noticed Logan --
our kind are fighting each
other. And that was also
Magneto's doing.
Kitty, noticing something on the muted television
across the room speaks.
KITTY
Guys, you should take a look at
this.
Kitty turns up the volume as Logan and Storm turn to
see the news report on the Television screen.
NEWSCASTER
Police are currently dealing
with a disturbance as Mutant
Activist continue to --
That's all the X-Men need to hear. Storm, leads the
others out of the room. The last two left are Warren
and Logan.
LOGAN
You coming?
A BEAT passes.
WARREN
Yeah. I'm right behind you.
Logan follows his team mates as a troubled Warren
continues staring at the mutant rioting on the T.V
Screen.
CUT TO:
EXT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - DAY
A motorcade, much like the one in the opening rolls in
past the gates. The armoured cars come to a stop and
Bolivar Trask steps out.
The President's aide Bill is with him.
Trask is talking into a cell phone.
TRASK
(Into Phone)
Yes Sir. Bill is with me now.
Trask motions for the door ahead of him be opened, and
the two armed guards oblige.
Trask hands one of the guards his briefcase as he
enters the Detention Centre. Bill skipping along behind
him.
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS
Trask continues down the corridor. Pulling an envelope
from his jacket pocket, he hands it to Bill.
TRASK
Yes Mr. President. I understand
your concerns.
INTERCUT WITH THE PRESIDENT & TRASK
PRESIDENT
I don't think you do.
TRASK
Mr. President. You appointed me
personally. You knew my record.
PRESIDENT
Yes.
TRASK
You knew my record, what I
brought to the table. And if I'm
not mistaken you signed off on
the policies I proposed.
PRESIDENT
Yes I did Trask. However I'm not
entirely sure it was the best
course of action after all. All
the rioting...
TRASK
Mr. President People have to
have licenses to drive, to own
weapons, we have identity cards
and passports. We have these
things, so we know who people
are, and what they can and
cannot do.
PRESIDENT
Yes but we're asking people to
register the right to exist.
Trask pauses in the corridor as Bill fumbles to open
the envelope.
Trask now speaks bitterly.
TRASK
No. They exist whether we want
them to or not.
PRESIDENT
I'm not sure I like your tone
Bolivar.
TRASK
I apologize Mr. President. But
this a serious matter. One that
I think you're taking far to
lightly. Mutants are dangerous.
We have seen it first hand, time
after time.
Magneto, these so called X-Men
think they can run around with
their super powers doing
whatever they please.
PRESIDENT
From all accounts the X-Men have
never done anything but try to
help us.
TRASK
Then they're nothing more than
vigilantes. Taking the law into
their own hands. It's time we
take it back. That is what my
Sentinels were designed for.
PRESIDENT
I don't like it Trask. I don't
like it at all.
TRASK
You don't have to like Mr.
President. You just have to
accept that this is the
situation we find ourselves in.
And it is the only way out.
The President concedes.
PRESIDENT
Goodbye Bolivar.
TRASK
Goodbye Mr. President.
Trask hangs up the phone.
Bill, finally gets the envelope open.
TRASK (CONT'D)
The old fool wouldn't know
what's best for this country if
it came up and bit him.
Bill withdraws the contents of the envelope as he
cranes his head to look at Trask.
BILL
Thank god we have someone like
you Mr. Trask
Bill looks at the contents of the envelope ... a
PICTURE of SAGE.
CUT TO:
EXT. SKY - DAY
The X-Jet soars overhead.
CUT TO:
EXT. CITY STREETS - DAY
Below the Jet the riots continue. Police try to keep
the mutants at bay, to no avail.
Several are thrown through nearby windows, whilst
others are hurled through the air, landing with
resounding thuds on the hoods of nearby cars.
The jet lands in the middle of the street as the X-Men
step out. Jubilee at the front of the group.
JUBILEE
Whoa Cool.
STORM
Jubilee, get back in the Jet.
JUBILEE
Hell no. I'm not missing this.
LOGAN
Jubilation. Do it now.
JUBILEE
But Logan--
The rioters, having spotted the X-Men begin to bare
down on them.
LOGAN
I said now Jubilee!
JUBILEE
OK, OK.
Jubilee backs up the ramp into the Jet.
Wolverine, Gambit and Colossus stand off from the group
of rioters.
The group of rioting mutants slowly step forward.
Wolverine retracts his claws, Gambit withdraws his
Staff from his coat. He retracts it, ready for a fight.
Colossus' entire body is consumed by an organic steel.
GAMBIT
This is gonna be fun.
Gambit nails the nearest mutant with his staff as
Colossus throws several back.
As the X-Team break through the group they see a larger
section converging to one spot. Crowding around
someone...
The X-Men begin to clear a path through the attacking
mutants.
Lying on the floor, bloody and beaten down is MYSTIQUE.
Mystique's blue lizard like form, now reduced to
patches on her human skin. Her hair colour changing from
black to red to blonde at rapid speeds. Her eyes
blinking, and much like her hair cycling through colour
after colour in quick succession.
She collapses to the floor as Gambit raises his staff
above his head, Storm grabs his wrist preventing her
friend from delivering the blow.
STORM
Gambit, no!
Mystique breaths heavily, panting.
MYSTIQUE
Help me.
CUT TO:
INT. X-JET - NIGHT
Mystique now lies at the back of the X-Jet. Frost now
semi conscious watches as Rogue and Storm hook Mystique
up to several machines built into the wall of the jet.
ROGUE
What do you think happened to
her?
Storm looks at Rogue, Storm seemingly knows the answer
but is afraid of what it might mean for Rogue.
Storm places something on Mystique's finger. As Storm
moves her arm away, Mystique grabs it. She pulls Storm
closer.
MYSTIQUE
Powers ... The Cure --
Mystique passes out before she can finish.
A wide eyed Rogue stares at Mystique. Storm looks
towards Rogue ... the look in her eyes shows her fear
has been realized.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABRATORY - NIGHT
Mystique is now laid out on a bed, hooked up to more
medical machines. Her rapid changes slowing slightly...
Emma Frost watches intrigued from the opposite bed.
INT. XAVIER MANSION - ROGUE'S LIVING QUARTERS - LATER
Rogue sits on the edge of her bed, troubled by recent
developments. She appears to be in deep thought as
Bobby enters the room.
BOBBY
Rogue?
ROGUE
Bobby, how many times do I have
to tell you -- my name is Marie.
BOBBY
I'm sorry, it's just. I heard
about Mystique.
Rogue has a "Don't remind me?" Expression on her face.
Bobby kneels in front of her.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
Maybe it'll be Ok. Maybe, your
powers won't come back --
Bobby reaches out, placing his hand comfortingly on
Rogue's arm.
BOBBY (CONT'D)
Maybe --
Rogue snatches his hand away.
ROGUE
Bobby don't.
Rogue releases Bobby's hand -- it's too late.
Bobby seems paralyzed for a moment, and then he falls
to the ground.
ROGUE (CONT'D)
Bobby!
Rogue kneels beside the fallen Iceman. She begins to
reach out, to touch her boyfriend. Suddenly she pulls
away, she stares at her hands, a tear slowly cascading
down her cheek.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LIVING ROOM - LATER
Jubilee, Colossus, Kitty and Warren all sit around a
table, a card game in progress.
Colossus seems less interested in the card game as he
sketches in a notebook. He occasionally glances towards
Kitty as the others talk about Rogue and Bobby.
JUBILEE
They fight all the time.
KITTY
Of course they do. They're a
couple, that's what all couples
do.
COLOSSUS
Not all couples, Katya.
Kitty and Colossus smile affectionately at one another.
Jubilee looks repulsed.
JUBILEE
You know what? I blame it on the
cure. Before Rogue went and got
that, they were fine.
Colossus and Kitty's expressions change now. They
quickly glance at Warren who is clearly not happy about
the topic of conversation.
JUBILEE (CONT'D)
I mean what were they thinking
when they came up with that. A
"Cure"?
Jubilee laughs in a mocking fashion.
Angel throws down his cards and storms out, pushing
past Rogue who enters the room as he leaves.
JUBILEE (CONT'D)
What did I say? It's not his
fault Rogue got the cure. I mean
she couldn't touch people right
... that's gotta be hard on any
relationship.
ROGUE
Jubilee. Why don't you just grow
up?!
Colossus and Kitty turn their heads now towards Rogue.
They almost don't know how to react.
They look at her as apologetically as they can.
Rogue turns and leaves, clearly upset.
Kitty and Colossus turn back towards Jubilee.
KITTY
See what you've done?
JUBILEE
What? It's not my fault people
are so sensitive.
Wolverine walks into the room, smoking a cigar.
LOGAN
Jubilee. Go to bed.
JUBILEE
Why?
LOGAN
Because I said so.
Jubilee, in typical moody teenage form gets to her feet
and skulks off. But not before snatching Wolverine's
cigar from his mouth.
JUBILEE
Storm says you're not allowed to
smoke in the Mansion.
Jubilee smiles at Logan before she makes a quick get
away.
Wolverine takes a step or two in her direction.
LOGAN
Hey--
He quickly gives up.
Wolverine looks towards Kitty and Colossus. He nods at
them and leaves them alone, exiting the room.
A beat passes.
KITTY
I...
COLOSSUS
So you...
They laugh.
COLOSSUS
You go.
KITTY
I didn't get a chance to thank
you.
COLOSSUS
Thank me?
KITTY
For saving me, back at the
Hellfire Club.
COLOSSUS
It was my pleasure Katya.
Kitty reaches out and takes Colossus hand.
We see Colossus' sketch is of Kitty.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABORATORY - MORNING
Ice Man is now in the bed opposite Mystique. Storm
watches over him.
Rogue sheepishly enters the room. Storm looks towards
her, feeling her pain.
ROGUE
How is he?
Storm answers earnestly.
STORM
Not good.
The futuristic, X-Shaped Automatic doors open once
again. This time Logan enters.
In his hands are two long white gloves.
LOGAN
Hey -- I thought -- I thought
you might need these.
Once again Rogue's eyes tear up. She snatches the
gloves from Wolverine's hand and leaves the room
hurriedly.
Storm and Wolverine exchange a glance, almost
comforting. Storm telling Wolverine he did the right
thing, even if he upset Rogue. The first sign of real
caring between the two.
CUT TO:
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - DAY
Sage and Beast sit opposite one another in their prison
cell.
BEAST
It's a pleasure to see you
again. How long has it been
since we first met at Xavier's
Institute?
SAGE
Too long.
BEAST
I heard he sent you on some
errand. I left the team before
you returned. I must say I
feared the worst.
SAGE
He sent me to the Hellfire Club
to keep track of Sebastian Shaw
and the White Queen, Emma Frost.
My mutant ability --
BEAST
Ah, that fantastic mind of
yours.
SAGE
My memory, immaculate, perfect
for storing the information I
gathered. One month turned in to
one year, one year turned in to
two, and then they sailed by...
Far too quickly.
BEAST
If only my career in politics
had lasted quite as long. I felt
as if we were making progress.
And now this --
SAGE
How do you feel about politics
now?
BEAST
Needless to say, my faith in our
political system has all but
evaporated. I'm more than
willing to re-join my old team
mates.
SAGE
The X-Men.
A beat passes, both mull over old memories. Fond
memories.
Outside the cell a ball of fire erupts down the
corridor.
CUT TO:
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - CELL WING - CONTINUOUS
Several guards escort Pyro and Blob down the corridor.
The mutant duo put up a fight...
Blob throws several guards across the room. Several
more take their place, weapons trained on him. Blob
continues to fight on, however several Taser blasts slow
him down.
CLICK
Pyro's lighter creates another flame for him to
control. The fire ball begins to increase in power
until--
A guard pistol whips Pyro forcing him to the floor. His
lighter slips from his wrist and it slides across the
ground. Just out of reach.
He reaches for it but the guard kicks it away.
PYRO
You can't keep us locked up for
ever.
Blob is escorted past him.
BLOB
They can try.
Pyro has his hands cuffed and he is hauled to his feet.
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - BEAST'S CELL -
CONTINUOUS
Sage and Beast watch as Pyro is pulled past their cell.
He tries to break free from the guards grip.
PYRO
You hear me. You can't keep us
locked up forever. You can't
keep us lock--
We hear a loud thud as Pyro is knocked unconscious.
Sage turns to Beast.
SAGE
Hank. We have to get out of
here. We have to stop this, and
the ones responsible.
BEAST
Unfortunately, I don't see a
way. I mean we can't just free
ourselves now. Not when there is
a whole prison full of fine
mutants.
Sage smiles at Beast.
SAGE
I have an idea.
BEAST
I thought you might.
CUT TO
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABORATORY - DAY
Rogue sits by Bobby. Gambit is also in the room. He
looks towards Mystique intently.
ROGUE
I didn't want to hurt him, I
didn't want any of this --
Gambit turns towards her, a slight hesitance as he
does.
ROGUE (CONT'D)
A few months ago, I couldn't
touch people without hurting
them. I got the Cure.
Rogue looks almost ashamed of herself. Gambit comforts
her, placing his hand to her cheek. His gloved hands
preventing her from absorbing his powers.
GAMBIT
It's OK chere. I know how you
feel. I know how it feels to
fear touching someone, fear
you'll hurt someone you love,
just by touching their cheek.
Their hand... their warmth.
Rogue stares deeply into Gambit's red and black eyes.
GAMBIT (CONT'D)
You turn to people you don't
entirely trust for help, you do
things -- you do anything.
ROGUE
Does that make me a bad person?
GAMBIT
Only if you let it.
Rogue smiles at him.
ROGUE
It's like you understand how I
feel -- nobody else can.
GAMBIT
Chere, sometimes you have to
feel pain before you can
understand it. Before you can
move on. Someone told me, a long
time ago not to linger in the
past --
ROGUE
But you do?
GAMBIT
No chere, I stopped lingering.
It took -- It took losing a part
of me, losing what I had. But I
started living in the present. I
don't linger in the past, I let
it guide me. Because I don't
want to make the same mistakes
again.
ROGUE
I've never met anyone like you
before.
GAMBIT
You mean someone so incredibly
handsome?
ROGUE
No.
(Flustered)
Not that you're not handsome I
mean -- I mean someone, so --
hurt.
GAMBIT
And who says I'm hurt chere?
ROGUE
You do, I can see it in your
eyes.
GAMBIT
Sometimes -- looks can be
deceiving.
Gambit turns and looks at the unconscious Mystique. She
appears almost childlike, vulnerable and scared.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LIVING ROOM - LATER
Emma Frost, now recovered looking far better than she
did when we first met her sits with Wolverine and
Storm.
She recounts what happened at the Hellfire Club.
EMMA FROST
We were ambushed. There was no
warning, no demands made. That
Sentinel tore through the
Hellfire Club with no
hesitation. They destroyed that
place, it was their only
purpose.
LOGAN
(To Storm)
And these are the people you
want to protect?
STORM
Logan. Go on Emma.
EMMA FROST
The Sentinel tried to kill me.
Last thing I remember -- I was
thrown into a wall. They took my
assistant Tessa.
STORM
To one of those detention
centres?
EMMA FROST
I believe that was their
purpose. I don't know what
happens next -- but I do know
this. I want to help you.
Storm smiles at her.
STORM
You just concentrate on resting
for now.
Logan and Storm leave her alone. Exiting the room.
INT. XAVIER MANSION - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
Jubilee sits a on a large stool, adjacent to a
breakfast bar. She eats pizza as Storm and Wolverine
enter.
Logan and Storm obviously want to talk privately.
Jubilee doesn't pick up on it.
JUBILEE
Oh hey guys. Did the Frost lady
tell you anything?
STORM
Jubilee --
Jubilee is oblivious.
JUBILEE
What?
Logan signals she should get out.
With a groan Jubilee takes her pizza and exits the
room.
JUBILEE (CONT'D)
They never let me hear the good
stuff.
Finally Logan and Storm are alone.
STORM
Logan, you can't keep blaming
me. I don't want to protect
people that hate and persecute
us. I don't want to help the
people that would throw us in a
prison and never let us leave. I
was the last person who wanted
the cure. It broke my heart when
Rogue got it. But I do it
because it's right.
LOGAN
Right for who?
STORM
For everyone! If we can change
one persons mind about our kind,
then we're doing our jobs.
LOGAN
One person won't save the world.
STORM
And condemning homo-sapiens to
death won't either. Magneto took
that attitude and look where we
are now?
Wolverine has no answer.
STORM (CONT'D)
We have to keep the peace. We
have to stop mutants from
killing each other, because some
got the cure and some didn't.
And we have to stop the riots
and attacks on huma--
LOGAN
No -- We have to stop these
Sentinels. We have to stop Trask
from locking people up.
STORM
Those Sentinels are dangerous.
We can't just --
LOGAN
You can't. Watch me.
Wolverine tries to walk away.
STORM
Logan -- stop! Think about
Jubilee, Kitty, think about
Rogue.
He is stopped in his tracks. Storm knows his weak spot
and is using it against him.
He turns back to her.
STORM (CONT'D)
You going out and getting
yourself killed isn't going to
help anyone. We need you...
LOGAN
Fine.
STORM
Besides, before we do anything
else, we have to decide what to
do about a certain somebody.
CUT TO:
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - PYRO'S CELL - NIGHT
Pyro paces back and forth across the cell. A scowl on
his face.
Blob watches him, his eyes shifting from side to side
like he's watching a game at Wimbledon.
BLOB
What's bothering you?
PYRO
What do you thinks’ bothering
me?
Pyro closes his fist tightly. He opens it ... no fire.
PYRO (CONT'D)
They took my light. And we're
locked up in a cage.
BLOB
You're right. We're locked up,
with bars and stuff. I don't
like it.
PYRO
Neither do the animals at the
Zoo.
BLOB
Sometimes animals get out.
PYRO
Yes they do.
BLOB
Sometimes a lion escapes and
mauls someone. I like that.
PYRO
So do I.
BLOB
Too bad we're not getting out.
Pyro stops. Once again he closes and opens his fist. He
stares at the palm of his hand.
PYRO
Yeah too bad.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - FROST'S LIVING QUARTERS - NIGHT
Gambit seeks out Emma Frost. He enters her room as she
stares out of the high arch window.
GAMBIT
Back on the Jet, you said you
knew me.
Emma turns to Gambit.
EMMA FROST
Because I do. And you know how.
GAMBIT
The Hellfire Club, the night I --
EMMA FROST
Yes.
GAMBIT
You're a Telepath, did you know
they planned to? --
EMMA FROST
Yes. But I did not see it in
you. You were not to know of
their plans, I sense now that
this "incident" causes you pain
even to this day.
GAMBIT
Oui Mon ami. It does. That night
I become a new person, started a
new life, a life that has led me
here. But it seems no matter
what I do, my past catches up
with me.
EMMA FROST
Remy LeBeau. I remember every
mind I've ever read. And in you
now I sense a great tragedy,
that was not there before. You
have lost somebody --
GAMBIT
Yes.
EMMA FROST
The woman you loved.
GAMBIT
Yes.
EMMA FROST
And you feel responsible for it?
Gambit simply nods this time.
EMMA FROST (CONT'D)
Remy trust in yourself. And
trust in these people. The X-Men
are not like your past team
mates.
GAMBIT
I hear that chere.
Gambit stands and turns to leave. He pauses, turns and
gives Emma Frost a sincere smile. A weight has
seemingly be lifted from his shoulders.
GAMBIT (CONT'D)
Thank you.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - CORRIDOR - NIGHT
Gambit exits Frost's room and heads down the corridor.
REVEAL: Wolverine. Watching on suspiciously, wary, un
trusting.
CUT TO:
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - BEAST'S CELL - DAY
The door to the cell suddenly opens. Two armed guards
walk in, grabbing Sage by the arms.
GUARD #1
Time for a little chit chat.
Guard #1 pulls Sage to her feet. As he drags her from
the cell, Sage turns to beast and winks at him. He
smiles in reply.
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - CELL WING - CONTINUOUS
Sage is taken past Blob and Pyro's cell. Blob shakes
the bars yelling at the guards taking Sage down the
corridor.
BLOB
You can't keep me here.
The guard pauses and turns to Blob.
GUARD #1
Settle down mutie. Lunch isn't
for another hour.
The guards laugh as they continue on their way with
Sage.
INT. MUTANT DETENTION CENTRE - PYRO'S CELL - CONTINUOUS
Blob backs away from the cell.
BLOB
Blob can't take it anymore. Blob
hungry.
Blob turns to Pyro. A disconcerting look on his face.
BLOB (CONT'D)
I don't want to be locked up no
more.
PYRO
Neither does Pyro. It's only a
matter of time. Soon...
Pyro smirks.
PYRO (CONT'D)
... We're getting out of here.
And when we do. There's gonna be
fireworks.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABORATORY - DAY
Rogue tends to Mystique who sleeps uneasily in her
hospital bed. She tosses and turns, as she does her
features change, a slower more lethargic pace than
before but still disconcerting.
LOGAN (V.O)
Mystique tells us her powers are
returning. They're unstable
right now, she can't control
them properly...
Storm checks on nearby machines monitoring Mystique's
condition.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LIVING ROOM - DAY
The X-Men discuss what they are going to do about
Mystique.
LOGAN
It appears, the Cure is wearing
off.
Glum faces around the room, all thinking of Bobby and
Rogue.
KITTY
If the Cure is wearing off, then
Magneto ... I mean if Rogue and
Mystique have theirs back, he
should too, right?
The faces in the room confirm her theory.
WARREN
We have to ask Mystique where he
is.
LOGAN
Magneto kicked her to the curb
remember? There's a good chance
she doesn't know where he is.
GAMBIT
I think the question we need to
be askin' ourselves, is why we
ain't doing the same thing? Why
exactly we ain't kicked her to
the curb?
The room turns to Gambit.
GAMBIT (CONT'D)
She's dangerous, we can't keep
her around. She can't be
trusted.
LOGAN
And you can? We don't know
anything about you. You just
show up on our doorstep...
Wolverine approaches Gambit. Gambit sits coolly on the
edge of the sofa. He smiles at Wolverine who draws
closer to him.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
I don't like you Cajun. I don't
like how you sneak around here
at night. I don't like that you
know Mystique, I don't like how
you've been spending so much
time with Rogue. And in my
experience, people who know
Victor Creed are bad news.
GAMBIT
What are you saying mon ami?
LOGAN
I don't want you here.
GAMBIT
You know ... I remember a
certain sabretoothed pal of ours
saying the same thing to me.
Wolverine grabs Gambit by the collar of his trench
coat.
GAMBIT (CONT'D)
Easy kitty. If you want to prove
you such a big strong cat ...
how 'bout we settle this like
men.
Wolverine releases Gambit, turns his back on him and
walks away.
LOGAN
You're on.
Wolverine's claws retract.
GAMBIT
I was hoping you'd say that.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - DANGER ROOM - CONTROL ROOM - DAY
The X-Men pile into the Control room, getting a front
row seat for the fight.
JUBILEE
Wolverine is going to tear
Gambit apart.
COLOSSUS
You don't know that Jubilee.
WARREN
It's Logan. The Cajun has
nothing on him.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - DANGER ROOM - DAY
Wolverine and Gambit stand off from one another.
LOGAN
I'm gonna send you back to the
House of the Rising sun Bub.
GAMBIT
Is that so mon ami?
Wolverine unleashes six solid Adamantium claws from his
knuckles.
LOGAN
Yeah, it is ... friend.
GAMBIT
Then what are you waiting for,
an invitation?
LOGAN
Well I have these.
(Looks at claws)
I just want to make sure it's a
fair fight.
GAMBIT
Trust me mon ami, it will be.
Concealed behind Gambit's back, his hand -- and in it,
a playing card. With a flick of his fingers, the cards
spread revealing not one, but four.
LOGAN
Well alright then, let the games
begin Cajun.
Wolverine smiles, a smile which soon evaporates.
Wolverine charges at Gambit, he leaps with an
animalistic ease and grace.
His claws pointed towards Gambit. Gambit spins, pulling
his bo staff from within his Trench Coat. It extends as
he leaps into the air.
He twists, corkscrews and lands on his feet behind
Wolverine. Wolverine lands cat like, he spins around to
face the Cajun Thief Remy LeBeau.
Gambit attacks using his Staff, he spins it before
swiping at Logan's face. A cut appears above his eye.
Within seconds the skin heals over, the blood flow
stops and the wound immaculately disappears.
Gambit's attack does not cease as he reveals his hand,
one -- two -- - four cards sent through the air.
Logan lifts his arms to defend himself as the cards
explode.
Gambit looks at the debris and dust, he smiles
victoriously until --
Wolverine steps out, not a scratch on him.
LOGAN (CONT'D)
You're gonna have to do better
than that bub.
CUT TO:
INT. XAVIER MANSION - LABORATORY - DAY
Mystique flinches catching Rogue's attention. Mystique
suddenly snaps upright, she draws a big breath.
She falls back her hair and eye colour beginning to
settle. Her skin less patchy thane before.
Rogue slowly walks towards her, checking the machines
next to Mystique's bed.
Mystique slowly turns to look at Rogue. Rogue avoids
eye contact at first but soon enough she returns
Mystique's stare.
Mystique notices the gloves missing from Rogue's hands.
Mystique chuckles to herself, prompting Rogue to pull
the blood pressure cuff around Mystique's arm just a
little tighter.
MYSTIQUE
I always knew you were weak.
ROGUE
I'm not the only one who got The
Cure Mystique.
