FADE TO:
EXT. MINING RIG
The mining rig is an enormous ring-like structure made up of scaffolding and metal platforms. It stretches far into the sky, towering over the surface of the moon. It also extends far down, into a huge crater. A gargantuan drill slowly makes it's way downwards, cutting through the crust of the moon.
A figure dressed in a red and black uniform tumbles out of an exit. He gets to his feet, and begins running towards a large complex in the distance. This is CAPTAIN SCARLET.
CUT TO:
INT. MINING RIG
We move downwards into the crater, passing level after level of scaffolding and platforms. A brutal fight has clearly taken place recently; large holes have been punched in several floors and ceilings, bullet casings float through the air and girders are dented from punches and other impacts.
As we reach the last level, a bloodied hand with three fingers grabs the railing. Another, full fingered hand does the same, and the man they belong to slowly pulls himself over the railing. He rolls over onto the floor, gasping in pain and unable to get up. His black uniform is torn to shreds, and his body is covered in lacerations and extremely deep cuts. Several portions of his limbs have been stripped of all flesh and reduced to bone. One of his legs has been reduced to a mere stump, which bleeds profusely, quickly forming a pool of blood around him. He moans and grasps his face, which is so cut it is unrecognisable. His eyes have been ripped from their sockets.
Slowly, and remarkably, the cuts on his face begin to shrink - they are healing. We pan down to his leg, which is regrowing. The figure smiles a toothless smile.
CUT TO:
EXT. MINING RIG
CAPTAIN BLACK steps out of the mining rig fully healed but caked in dried blood, his uniform barely clinging to him. He looks towards the Mysteron complex and sees Scarlet entering it through a large, broken window. Black begins bounding weightlessly away from the rig, but not in the direction of the complex.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE SHUTTLE
The spacecraft, emblazoned with a large Spectrum logo, sits motionless on the surface of the moon. Black reaches it and bounces up the ladder rungs to the airlock.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Black enters through the interior airlock, which closes with a HISS. An Australian accented voice calls out from a distant room.
DOCTOR FAWN (O.S.)
H... Hello?
Black does not reply. Instead, he moves into a shadowy section of the corridor, hiding from sight. DOCTOR FAWN walks through a doorway. He has brown hair, and is middle aged.
DOCTOR FAWN
Is somebody there?
Black grabs Fawn, slamming him to the ground. Fawn cries out in terror. Black grabs a pistol from a nearby rack of weapons and presses it to the back of Fawn's neck. Fawn whimpers as he feels the cold steel against his skin. Black leans down and whispers into Fawn's ear.
CAPTAIN BLACK
I'm not going to kill you.
Through a porthole, Black notices a hulking white vehicle with tank-like tire treads slowing to a halt outside the shuttle. Two figures in space suits jump out and begin moving towards the airlock.
CAPTAIN BLACK
...Yet.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
We have cut to the same scene, but a few minutes later. Black and Fawn are nowhere to be seen, and the weapons rack has been emptied. The two figures enter through the airlock, pulling off their helmets. They are CAPTAIN BLUE and DESTINY ANGEL.
CAPTAIN BLUE
I'll start the shuttle up. Where the hell is Fawn?
DESTINY ANGEL
I'll go look for him.
She walks briskly into another room. Blue quickly strips off his space suit, revealing a blue and black uniform underneath. He runs into the c*ckpit, able to move freely now.
CUT TO:
INT. c*ckPIT
Blue sits down and flicks switches, pulls levers and presses buttons in very quick succession. The engines of the shuttle roar to life, and the ground outside the window starts to lower down - the ship is hovering upwards.
From somewhere within the shuttle, Destiny screams. Blue's eyes widen, and he runs out of the c*ckpit.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Blue runs into the dining area and stops dead in his tracks at the sight of Fawn lying on the ground tied up with his mouth covered in tape. Black has bound Destiny's legs already, and he is finishing taping her mouth shut. His pistol lies on the ground, an equal distance from Blue and Black. Black looks up and sees Blue. Blue dives forwards and Black runs towards the gun. They meet in the middle and grapple with each other. Blue kicks Black hard in the knee, causing him to fall over. Black reaches up and kicks Blue in the stomach, then in the face when Blue doubles over. Blue falls over backwards. Black grabs the pistol and stands up, aiming it at his enemy.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Welcome back, Adam Svenson.
A beeping emanates from Blue's earpiece. Black rips it off his head and places it on the dining table, c*cking the gun. He raises his index finger to his lips.
CAPTAIN BLACK
I'm not here.
He presses a button on the headset with a megaphone icon engraved next to it. The sound fills the entire room.
CAPTAIN SCARLET
(Over radio)
Blue? It's Scarlet again. Listen, I know it sounds crazy, but you're going to need to launch the shuttle and fly it over here.
Black raises his eyebrows. Blue wipes a smear of blood from his mouth, staring at the gun.
CAPTAIN BLACK
(Whispering)
Pretend as if nothing is wrong.
CAPTAIN BLUE
You can't be serious!
CAPTAIN SCARLET
(Over radio)
Look, I'll get as high up as I can and latch on. You just need to do a fly by, ok?
Black slowly nods. Blue closes his eyes, in guilt as much as desperation.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Ok. I'll be there as soon as I can.
Blue appears disgusted with himself.
CUT TO:
INT. c*ckPIT
Black flies the shuttle towards the mining rig. Scarlet is barely visible on its roof.
CUT TO:
EXT. MINING RIG
In the distance, the shuttle is visible, rapidly flying towards his position. He smiles briefly.
MYSTERONS
(Recording)
Initiating detonation... now.
CAPTAIN SCARLET
Oh, you have got to be kidding m-
Small, rapid explosions begin occurring from within the drill. They soon trigger much larger explosions, which in turn trigger even larger explosions, and so on.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Blue, Fawn and Destiny lie on the ground, bound and gagged. They appear fearful as the sound of explosions is heard from outside.
CUT TO:
EXT. MINING RIG
Scarlet looks up as the shuttle passes overhead. He pulls a grapple gun from a holster on his belt and fires it at the shuttle, the cord rising through the air as the mining rig starts collapsing. Scarlet is yanked into the sky as a massive final explosion occurs beneath him, incinerating the scaffolding and anything on top of it. The explosion extends to the complex, which in turn explodes. The space shuttle makes a 180 degree turn, trailing Scarlet behind through the air, the tips of the flames licking at him. As the spacecraft rockets forwards, it is easy to see it is heading towards Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE AIRLOCK
The external airlock door opens. Scarlet topples inside, having crawled across the shuttle to reach it. After a few seconds, the interior door opens, and Scarlet steps into the corridor.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
CAPTAIN SCARLET
We did it!
There is no reply.
CAPTAIN SCARLET
Hello? Blue? Destiny?
He begins walking down the corridor towards an open doorway.
CAPTAIN SCARLET
Adam? Juliette?
He stands in the doorway and gasps. Fawn, Blue and Destiny sit on the ground in the room, bound and gagged. Black appears from behind Scarlet, grabbing him by the neck and throwing him against a wall so hard that it dents. Black's uniform is torn, tattered and bloody, although he doesn't have a scratch on him.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Time and time again... Time and time again, you underestimate our ability to rebuild.
Scarlet lies on the ground, dazed from the head trauma. Black grabs his collar and begins dragging him down the corridor.
CAPTAIN BLACK
To rebuild ourselves, our complexes, our work... I suppose I shouldn't judge. After all, we've clearly underestimated your ability to meddle. But no more.
Black dumps Scarlet in an escape pod and closes the hatch.
CAPTAIN BLACK
I'd have killed your friends, but I'll need them to negotiate my way off this spacecraft when we reach Earth... And it's important that I be there for the final phase of the war effort, wouldn't you say?
Destiny shouts, but her voice is muffled by her gag. Scarlet begins to come out of his daze and begins pounding on the escape pod window, his screams silenced by the thick glass.
CAPTAIN BLACK
But I can't afford to take any chances with you. Goodbye, Paul Metcalfe.
Black presses a large button set into the wall by the escape pod. The capsule slowly begins sliding out of it's compartment.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE
The escape pod shoots out of the shuttle at high speed, traveling away from Earth and towards... nowhere.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Black walks down the corridor, smirking.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE
The shuttle glides in the direction of Earth, with the escape pod drifting in the opposite direction.
C.U. ESCAPE POD WINDOW
Scarlet continues pounding noiselessly on the glass, his mouth opening wide with his shouts, before he appears to give up. He puts his face in his hands, which now have bloody knuckles, and appears to sigh deeply as the escape pod takes him further and further away from Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Destiny continues screaming a muffled scream, tears rolling down her cheeks. Blue is red in the face, enraged.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Something to say?
He rips the tape from Destiny's mouth. She immediately spits in his face.
DESTINY ANGEL
You bastard!
Black points his gun at her, smirking.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Careful, now. I only need one of you to get out of this alive. Don't make me... narrow it down.
DESTINY ANGEL
How the hell are you still alive? Paul said he killed you!
CAPTAIN BLACK
He did kill me. But he's killed me before, and I've killed him... And yet, we both live to fight another day again and again. We're so alike, he and I.
DESTINY ANGEL
(Angrily)
He's nothing like you. Don't you dare compare yourself to him!
Black begins pacing slowly around the room.
CAPTAIN BLACK
There are differences, of course, but we're... two sides of the same coin. If Paul Metcalfe weren't in his current predicament, I suspect we'd have been fighting for a long, long time.
A beat passes.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Not that you'd be alive to see.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
It is some time later. Blue and Fawn's faces are covered in stubble. Their gags have been removed. Although Black is nowhere to be seen, they speak in quiet voices. Fawn is pale and exhausted looking.
DESTINY ANGEL
How long has it been?
DOCTOR FAWN
At least three days, maybe more.
CAPTAIN BLUE
How do you know?
DOCTOR FAWN
(Sighing)
I've been counting the hours.
Black passes through the room quickly, looking agitated.
DOCTOR FAWN
What's wrong with him?
CAPTAIN BLUE
We haven't heard any voices... I don't think The Mysterons have been contacting him. He must be nervous.
DESTINY ANGEL
Weird to think that a monster like him can still get nervous.
DOCTOR FAWN
What do you think is going to happen when we get back to earth?
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Sighing)
I have no idea. If the situation is handled according to protocol, then Spectrum won't negotiate with Black. But...
DESTINY ANGEL
When was the last time that we can remember when we followed protocol?
CAPTAIN BLUE
Exactly. White will cave, and Black will walk free.
A silence falls over the group. Black walks in, looking more confident.
CAPTAIN BLACK
We're almost there.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPACE SHUTTLE - DAY
The shuttle becomes red hot as it enters the atmosphere of the earth, rocketing towards the ocean.
CUT TO:
INT. c*ckPIT
Black straps himself into his seat as the shuttle begins rocking violently.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
With nothing to hold them down, the three prisoners rock about the room, slamming against the walls. Blue's head collides with the table.
SMASH TO BLACK.
FADE TO:
EXT. OCEAN - NIGHT
The shuttle lies in the ocean, floating motionlessly. Lights on either side blink, periodically illuminating the shadowy space craft.
CUT TO:
INT. c*ckPIT - NIGHT
Black sits in his seat, staring through the windshield intently. He is in a state of pure concentration.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Blue groans and raises his head, which has a nasty cut across the forehead, surrounded by bruising. Fawn and Destiny lie on their sides, awake.
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Weakly)
What... What happened?
DOCTOR FAWN
We've landed. We just need to wait for the -
From outside, there is the distant whirring sound of a motor engine.
CUT TO:
EXT. OCEAN - NIGHT
A speed boat containing two armoured S.A.T.A.s (Spectrum Assault Team Agents). Their armour is lighter than usual, and is a dark green instead of black. Their helmets are more akin to diving masks.
CUT TO:
INT. c*ckPIT - NIGHT
Black watches the boat approach. He slides a pistol into his lap and thumbs back the hammer before standing up and leaving the room.
CUT TO:
INT. SPACE SHUTTLE
Black walks into the room.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Time to go.
CUT TO:
EXT. OCEAN - NIGHT
The airlock door slides open as the boat slows to a halt outside it. The two water S.A.T.A.s raise machine guns at the open door as Black moves into view, holding Blue in front of him. Using his left hand to grip onto Blue's shoulder tightly, Black extends his right hand holding his pistol, resting his arm on Blue's right shoulder.
WATER S.A.T. AGENT
Captain Black...
There is a moment of silence.
WATER S.A.T. AGENT
...Well done, sir.
Both Blue and Black appear surprised.
WATER S.A.T. AGENT
Our masters are pleased with your work. We're to escort you and your prisoners to Cloudbase immediately.
Black smiles in a satisfied manner.
CAPTAIN BLUE
What the hell is going on? Who are y-
Black presses the gun to the side of Blue's head. Blue immediately falls silent.
CAPTAIN BLACK
Let's go.
CUT TO:
EXT. CLOUDBASE - NIGHT
Cloudbase is an enormous metallic structure hanging in the sky, an airbourne aircraft carrier. A small black plane flies towards it.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
Blue, Destiny and Fawn move down the windowless, glossy white corridor with their hands cuffed behind their back. They flanked by two regular S.A.T.A.s on each side. They walk past a large indoor window, looking into the control room. It is empty.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Where is everybody?
There is no reply.
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Angry)
You've killed them, haven't you, you?
They reach a corridor comprised of doors to personnel quarters. A S.A.T.A. opens one of the doors. Almost all furnishings have been removed, leaving only a pair of uncomfortable looking bunks - it is not a prison cell.
He gestures at Blue. Another of the S.A.T.A.s walks up behind him and unlocks the cuffs. Blue immediately spins around, trying to grab the S.A.T.A. who freed him. The S.A.T.A. hits him in the face with the butt of his machine gun. Blue falls backwards onto the cell floor, and the door slams shut.
CUT TO:
INT. BLUE'S CELL
Blue groans and sits up, dazed.
COLONEL WHITE (O.S.)
I wouldn't advise doing that again.
Blue looks up. COLONEL WHITE stands in the bathroom door. He moves into the bedroom and crouches by Blue.
COLONEL WHITE
Are you alright?
CAPTAIN BLUE
I'm fine. Colonel, what happened?
White sighs and moves to his bunk, sitting down on the end of the bed.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Where is everyone?
COLONEL WHITE
Spectrum... has been disbanded. It's Anderson's doing.
CAPTAIN BLUE
What? But we saved his life!
COLONEL WHITE
It doesn't matter.
FADE TO:
INT. SPECTRUM CONTROL ROOM
The room is full. At the back of the room, glass walls separate White's office from the actual control center. He sits at a desk typing, a large Spectrum logo engraved into the wall behind him.
CUT TO:
INT. WHITE'S OFFICE
White continues typing.
COLONEL WHITE (V.O.)
Anderson had been discharged from the medical wing, and you'd just crossed over to the dark side of the moon. All there was to do was to wait in silence for your news.
In the distance, ROBERT ANDERSON, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, walks into the control room. He does not look like a man who is still recovering from a lung transplant - he is fully dressed and healthy looking. He is slightly paler than normal, and his eyes are dark. He appears more confident before. White looks up and sees him surprised. From behind Anderson, twenty S.A.T.A.s file into the room. Anderson appears to be addressing the Spectrum personnel, but the words cannot be heard through White's glass walls.
The staff slowly begin to get up and begin moving out of the room, looking puzzled and slightly fearful. The S.A.T.A.s regulate their exit. Anderson walks to the office and lets himself in.
COLONEL WHITE
(Coldly)
I'd have thought you'd be convalescing, Robert.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Well, you know what they say. There's no rest for the wicked.
COLONEL WHITE
Where are you taking my staff?
ROBERT ANDERSON
As of now, Spectrum is officially decommissioned while I continue my investigation into the death of Director General Kin Sang.
White becomes angry.
COLONEL WHITE
We saved your life!
ROBERT ANDERSON
That doesn't absolve you of your past incompetence. Heads must roll, colonel. The U.S. must be seen punishing those responsible for the death of a world leader on her soil.
White stands up. The two are locked in an intense stare.
COLONEL WHITE
Did you have... any problems on the flight back home?
Anderson chuckles coldly. They both know the truth, but neither of them are speaking it - the atmosphere is tense.
ROBERT ANDERSON
What does not kill me... makes me stronger.
COLONEL WHITE
Very nice. I didn't know that Nietzsche had friends among the Mysterons.
White quickly grabs a letter opener and lunges at Anderson across the desk, stabbing forwards with the blade. Anderson steps to the side and kicks him as he rolls over the table, stamping on White's hand when he reaches the floor. White drops the letter opener, and Anderson kicks it to the other side of the room. Two S.A.T.A.s run into the room. One hits White over the back of the head with his gun, and then they both help to prop up the dazed White, dragging him out of the office. As White comes to, he begins screaming.
COLONEL WHITE
YOU'RE NOT GOING TO WALK AWAY FROM THIS, ANDERSON! YOU'RE NOT GOING TO WIN!
FADE TO:
INT. BLUE'S CELL
White sighs.
CAPTAIN BLUE
They got to Anderson? Even after everything we did?
COLONEL WHITE
I suspect they destroyed his plane on the way home and replaced him there.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Who's left here?
COLONEL WHITE
Only a few. People who may have knowledge that could be useful to the Mysterons, or provide a service that they can only perform when under their own control... But enough of that. What happened on the mission? Was it a success?
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Slowly)
The Mysterons had a base on the moon. They were drilling a hole to the center... They were going to blow it up from the inside, flood all the low ground with the tides and drown everybody there.
COLONEL WHITE
But you stopped them?
CAPTAIN BLUE
Scarlet... Scarlet destroyed the base.
White smiles and nods appreciatively.
COLONEL WHITE
Excellent! Even with us here, it'll take them months to put another plan like that into motion. Did you see what cell they put Captain Scarlet in? We may be able to find some way to talk to him!
Blue sighs deeply.
COLONEL WHITE
What? What is it?
CAPTAIN BLUE
Paul isn't here.
White's face falls.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Paul didn't manage to kill Black. Black locked him in an escape pod and cast him off into space... away from Earth.
White is crestfallen. A long moment of saddened silence passes. Suddenly, the door swings open and two S.A.T.A.s walk in. They quickly subdue Blue, binding him at the hands and feet. They throw a black bag over his head and begin dragging him out of the room.
COLONEL WHITE
Adam! ADAM!
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
Blue is dragged down the corridor by the agents.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
All regular lighting in the mess hall has been switched off. An inwards-facing ring of bright fluorescent lights has been set up in the middle of the room, with a chair in the center of the circle. Blue dragged into the room and dumped in the chair. The S.A.T.A.s leave the ring and disappear into the pitch black void beyond it. Blue breathes heavily, desperate and finding it hard to inhale.
ROBERT ANDERSON (O.S.)
Adam Svenson.
CAPTAIN BLUE
A... Anderson?
Anderson steps out of the darkness and into the ring of lights. He rips the bag from off of Blue's head. Blue squints, practically blinded by the sudden presence of light.
ROBERT ANDERSON
In the flesh. Now... Where should we begin?
CAPTAIN BLUE
I don't know anything that would help you.
Anderson begins pacing, turning away from Blue.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Come on now, Adam, let's not lie.
CAPTAIN BLUE
It's the truth!
Anderson spins around swiftly to face Adam, whipping out a gun and pressing it violently to his forehead.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Oh, then maybe I should kill you right now?
A beat passes.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Go ahead. I sold out my best friend... maybe I deserve to die.
Anderson laughs.
ROBERT ANDERSON
You humans... You lie, cheat, steal, kill... You're slaves to your selfish impulses. But it's only when you're on the receiving end...
BLAM! Anderson fires a shot into the void. Blue winces.
ROBERT ANDERSON (O.S.)
...that you begin to show any remorse for the terrible things you've done. What happened to Paul Metcalfe wasn't your fault. If you hadn't assisted Captain Black, Paul Metcalfe would simply have been left stranded on the surface of the moon. He would have been disposed of either way. You simply made it happen one way and not the other.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Is that supposed to make me feel better?
ROBERT ANDERSON
Not at all. It's supposed to stop you from lamenting over a non-existent mistake... You're of no use to anybody while you're doing that.
CAPTAIN BLUE
I'm no use to you either way. I don't know anything important.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Oh, but you do, Adam Svenson, you do. For example... I know that you have one of three access codes for the classified operatives database.
Blue appears shocked that Anderson knows this.
CAPTAIN BLUE
I... I don't know what you're talking about.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Yes, you do! DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH ME!
He punches Blue in the face, knocking him off the chair and onto the ground. He then kicks Blue in the stomach. After a few moments, he grabs Blue and lifts him up, sitting him back down in the chair.
ROBERT ANDERSON
I want to know who is working for Spectrum outside of Cloudbase.
CAPTAIN BLUE
You want me to help you track down people I work with so you can kill them?
ROBERT ANDERSON
No, there are no plans to kill any of them... yet. For now, we are subjecting each Spectrum employee that we can to questioning over the Las Vegas fiasco.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Except you already know what happened in Las Vegas - you caused it. This is a cover-up.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Call it what you will, Adam Svenson. I just need your code... I know that you and your colonel both have them. I also need to know who owns the third...
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
Destiny squints as the bag is taken off her head.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
A bloody LIEUTENANT GREEN gasps as his bag is taken off.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
A terrified Fawn looks around the room as his bag is ripped off.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
Blue begins laughing coldly.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Something funny, Adam Svenson?
CAPTAIN BLUE
Sorry, I just think it's ironic.
ROBERT ANDERSON
What is?
CAPTAIN BLUE
The fact that your lackey jettisoned the last code into deep space.
Anderon appears enraged.
ROBERT ANDERSON
You mean to tell me that the owner of the third code is Paul Metcalfe?
Blue does not answer, instead smirking tauntingly. Anderson claps and points at Blue. Two S.A.T.A.s come into the light, throw the bag over Blue's head and begind dragging him out of the room.
ROBERT ANDERSON
(Angrily)
If what you tell me is true, then I'll just have to persuade some more technically minded colleagues of yours to help me access the database without the code. If you're lying to me, Adam Svenson, you only have yourself to blame for what is to come. YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME!
CUT TO:
INT. BLUE'S CELL
Blue sits on the floor, White on the bed.
COLONEL WHITE
You told him Captain Scarlet has the code?
CAPTAIN BLUE
Yes.
COLONEL WHITE
That was a VERY dangerous thing to do, Adam.
CAPTAIN BLUE
It buys us time. They either need all three codes or none of them - we won't be questioned for our codes anymore, and neither will Lieutenant Green.
COLONEL WHITE
But he'll force Telum into hacking into the database... He isn't a field agent, Adam, he hasn't had any significant torture conditioning!
Blue hangs his head, sighing.
COLONEL WHITE
We're just going to have to find some way to get Telum out before he breaks.
CAPTAIN BLUE
You have something in mind?
White thinks.
COLONEL WHITE
Maybe... We'd need to find a way to communicate with the others, plan an escape...
CAPTAIN BLUE
Let's say we escape. What happens then? We lay low, wait for this to blow over?
COLONEL WHITE
No. The Mysterons got to Anderson, replicated him... They're in the White House. They've got a grander design than mass killing this time. We need to stop them.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Well, let's get to it.
COLONEL WHITE
You know it's going to take years to plan something watertight.
Blue gestures around him.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Time is something we have on our side.
FADE TO BLACK:
Two years later
FADE TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
A S.A.T.A. holding a shotgun walks down the corridor towards the cells. He opens the door to Blue and White's cell and shouts inside.
S.A.T.A.
Oi, Svenson! Wake up! The President is here, and he wants to see you in five minutes!
He slams the door shut.
CUT TO:
INT. BLUE'S CELL
Blue sits up on his bunk. Stubble covers his face, and a large, ugly scar resides on his left cheek. He appears tired and malnourished.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Informal for a Mysteron.
He gets up and walks into the bathroom. Through the open doorway, we see him reach behind the toilet and pull out an electric shaver. White sits up. He is also fatigued and malnourished. They are both wearing their Spectrum uniforms, which are grubby and worn.
COLONEL WHITE
They're getting better at acting normally. Helps them fit in, I suppose.
Blue begins quickly shaving his face.
COLONEL WHITE
(Quietly)
You ready?
Blue stashes the shaver back behind the toilet cistern and walks into the main room. He nods.
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Quietly)
Good luck.
COLONEL WHITE
(Quietly)
The same to you.
Blue walks to the cell door and knocks on it sharply.
CAPTAIN BLUE
I'm ready to go.
CUT TO:
INT. WHITE'S OFFICE
Blue walks into the office. The revolving chair is facing away from him - we cannot see who sits in it.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Good morning, Mr. President.
The chair turns around, revealing Anderson.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Adam Svenson. How long has it been? Four, five months?
CAPTAIN BLUE
You hadn't even been promoted the last time we met.
Anderon laughs quietly.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Yes, well... How are you doing?
Blue doesn't answer.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Oh, don't be like that. If you were a little friendlier, you might have been let go a long time ago.
CAPTAIN BLUE
We both know that's a load of crap. What exactly did you want to see me for?
Anderson smirks.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Come with me. I want to show you something.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
The room is slightly better lit than it was before, but it is still very intimidating looking. A S.A.T.A. stands over a vat of dirty water, holding TELUM'S head in. Telum's legs jerk, and his arms grab for the edges, trying to pull himself out. Anderson and Blue walk towards the vat.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Two years of this treatment. Astonishing that he's held up so long, isn't it?
Anderson gestures at Telum. The S.A.T.A. nods and lets go of his head. Telum pushes himself away from the vat, falling onto the floor. He is dresses in tattered rags, and he is bloody and dirty. Scars and burns cover his body.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Have you even seen him since you got back?
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Apprehensively)
...Once or twice.
He nods very surreptitiously at Telum. Telum notices the signal but does not nod back. However, a look of affirmation crosses his face.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
Anderson, Blue and Blue's shotgun toting S.A.T.A. guard walk down the corridor towards the cells.
ROBERT ANDERSON
I trust you're behaving yourself?
CAPTAIN BLUE
(Coldly)
Of course.
The S.A.T.A. props his shotgun against the wall and begins opening the door.
ROBERT ANDERSON
Well then, I suppose this is goodbye for n-
The door swings open. White bursts out, knocking the S.A.T.A. against the wall. Blue grabs the shotgun and aims it at Anderson. White grabs the S.A.T.A.'s head and smashes it against the wall again, stealing the pistol from his thigh holster. Blue looks at Anderson, aiming the shotgun at his head.
CAPTAIN BLUE
You've already sent the signal, haven't you?
ROBERT ANDERSON
Why wouldn't I have?
Blue punches him in the face. Anderson falls to the ground.
CAPTAIN BLUE
God, that felt good!
COLONEL WHITE
We've got under five minutes until Black gets here, don't waste it!
CAPTAIN BLUE
Right.
Blue aims the shotgun at the S.A.T.A.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Keys.
He does nothing. Blue fires the shotgun into the wall above his head.
CAPTAIN BLUE
KEYS!
The S.A.T.A. slowly draws a set of cell keys from a pouch on his armour. Blue grabs them. He swaps guns with White, trading the pistol for the shotgun, and runs off down the hall. White watches him leave, not noticing Anderson hitting an alarm button on the wall.A screeching siren goes off.
COLONEL WHITE
You stu-
Two S.A.T.A.s come into view, machine guns at the ready. They begin blasting. White fires his shotgun, hitting one in the chest and the other in the head. They fall to the ground.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE MESS HALL
Blue runs into the mess hall. He immediately trips up the S.A.T.A. and shoots him in the head through his visor. Blood spatters over Telum.
TELUM
(Weakly, playfully)
You took your time!
CAPTAIN BLUE
Hey, two years is the standard. Come on, we need to move.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
The S.A.T.A. White shot in the chest begins getting up. White tries to shoot at him again, but the empty gun simply clicks. Before his enemy can pick up his own gun, White runs at him and kicks him in the face, grabbing the machine gun. He begins shooting at a crowd of S.A.T.A.s running down the corridor.
CUT TO:
INT. ARMOURY
Blue trains his pistol on the door as Telum grabs items from the shelves that fill the room - parachutes, guns and plastic explosives. He stuffs them all into a bag.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
Blue and Telum run down the corridor. A S.A.T.A. sneaks up behind White as he is shooting at other enemies down the corridor. Blue runs up behind him and shoots him in the head.
COLONEL WHITE
One minute left!
CAPTAIN BLUE
I KNOW!
Telum finds a clear spot of wall and begins planting the explosives. Meanwhile, Blue runs to the other cells and begins using the keys to open them. After setting everybody free, the group is comprised of White, Blue, Destiny, Green, Telum and Fawn. They all strap on their parachutes, Blue aiming his gun at Anderson, who is knelt on the floor. Blue grabs him by the scruff of the neck, standing behind him and pressing the gun to his head - holding him hostage.
CAPTAIN BLUE
But we're not giving up either.
TELUM
Stand back!
They all move away from the wall. Telum presses a switch on his detonator.
CUT TO:
EXT. CLOUDBASE - DAY
The explosion blows a large hole in the wall, debris falling outwards towards Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. CLOUDBASE CORRIDOR
Wind rushes through the corridor, dampening any noises. S.A.T.A.s begin crowding around the group, but hold their fire due to Blue holding Anderson out as a human shield. Far down the corridor, Black appears in uniform through a door, running towards them with an assault rifle slung over his shoulder. He sprints towards the crowd. Blue sees him.
CAPTAIN BLUE
Crap! We need to go! NOW!
Destiny leaps out of the hole, followed by Green, who is followed by White, who is followed by Telum, who is followed by Fawn. Black has almost reached Blue.
ROBERT ANDERSON
YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THIS! YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP! I'M NEVER GOING TO GIVE UP LOOKING FOR YOU!
CAPTAIN BLUE
Maybe... But we're not giving up either.
Blue dives backwards out of the whole as Black reaches Anderson.
ROBERT ANDERSON
BLACK, SHOOT THEM!
Black grabs his assault rifle and leans out of the hole in the wall.
CUT TO BLACK.
A single gunshot rings out.

FADE TO:
EXT.
