I just finished reading Xplay's much anticipated "Halloween 3". Let me start off by saying, it is NOTHING you have ever seen before in any Halloween film. I would describe it more as Pulp Fiction/Grindhouse meets Scream. The film features several new characters and takes the Halloween story in a completely new direction. My biggest critique, like Krew said, is that it didn't feel like a Halloween film. I know Xplay has said that he WANTED people to feel that it wasn't like a Halloween film and I respect that, but this film really pushes it to the limit. I feel that it should have been a prequel or a story BASED on the other Halloween films just because of how different the storyline and characters were. But on the plus side, the writing is SUPERB. I don't think I have read any script on this site that has impressed me, writing and strucure wise, as much as Halloween 3 has. Also, the characters were VERY original and unique, each in their own way. Xplay is a master of character development. Especially with Dr. Gordon and Sheriff Leone. He gives each character a backstory and a reason to be in the situation. I would say this is a DEFINITE candidate for best writing at the next Reelies or Awards Show. Also, the way Xplay brings the story together near the end and ties up all the loose ends is absolutely ingenious. As you read the film, you will think at points "what is going on!?". But in the end, everything comes together and the reader will realize it was all there for a reason. I'm sure this took HOURS of planning out and it amazes me that you were able to pull together such a pristinely crafted screenplay in only about a month and a half.
Overall, I loved your ingenious writing and character development but I felt that it belonged in another film, a film not associated with the "Halloween" series. But in the end, I congratulate you for your tremendous writing, as I think you have a promises future in that field ahead of you, and cannot wait to see what's next for you.
