About a year ago Bucksfan took John Carpenter's classic and re-imagined it, his remake worked. It wasn't like Zombie's trashy vision, Bucksfan's was great.
Now Krew has sequelized it. Krew's vision is different from Bucksfan, but in a good way. Krew manages to create one of the most explosive first acts I've ever read, EVER.
Laurie is the hospital, after the shocking conclusion of Bucksfan's Halloween film, and Michael is following suit to take her. Let's just say that ALOT of people die. I'm not a "gore hound" or whatever they're called, but Krew has some really inventive deaths. Insanely violent yet gleeful, quite terrifying.
Michael Myers was a shadowy figure in John Carpenter's film, but the Bucksfan/Krew Michael is a monster. I wish I had a more professional way to describe it, but Michael fucks people up real good.
What gets me is Krew's writing for Laurie, it's brilliant. Laurie goes into "party girl mode", addictions and all to cover up her deep pyschological pain, which I found to be a brilliant plot device.
The only complaint I could really make is the film's second act, which plays out much like a typical Halloween film. But that might just be because it's sandwiched between two of the most exciting acts I have ever read.
It's violent, dark and relentless at times but it's Krew, so you can expect all the scenes to be written with a novel-like beauty. You feel like you're watching a film, not reading a script.
A stark masterpiece of horror, it's one hell of a blast. I would consider it to be one of the best horror films I've ever written. I've never been a big horror buff (though thanks to director Eli Roth, I've become very much aware of it's history and many different talented directors), but I was so impressed with this film.
Bravo Krew, bravo.
