Here is a beginning few sequences for Hamlet. Tell me if you think I should go on with it or not. Please and thanks ahead of time.
Also, I may as well warn you, it isn't formatted. Sorry, it's going to be hard to read, but I didn't have much time to format it.
EXT. NYC - DAY
The camera shows New York City on a beautiful day. A huge office building is seen towering over a few other buildings, but nothing is really said or heard. All that can be heard by the audience is the song "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance. The scene continues like this, going around the city. It then cuts to a late night in the building, Marcellus, the security guard, is walking around. He hears something.
Marcellus
Who is it? I swear to God that when I find you I will shoot your ass down!
Something else bumps, and a coffee mug full of pencils falls off of a nearby desk. Marcellus pulls his gun out and points it to the desk. A man is seen, but you can't see him very well. Just his shadow is seen. He disappears shortly after.
MARCELLUS
Jesus. This is the most messed up job I think that I've had in all my years.
Marcellus walks over to the elevator, hitting the down button. The door opens and Marcellus goes inside it. The doors shut and the scene cuts.
Int. Office - That Night - Midnight
Marcellus is sitting at his security table, and the wall clock goes to midnight. Horatio is right behind Marcellus.
Horatio
Wake up man, I'm here.
MARCELLUS
(Waking up)
Holy shit dude! Scared me!
Horatio lets out a slight chuckle.
HORATIO
Sorry man. Now what did you want me for?
MARCELLUS
Come with me.
The scene cuts to them running down the hall that Marcellus was at the night before.
MARCELLUS
Now watch.
Horatio stands staring.
HORATIO
I don't see anything Marcellus. I swear, if you're just wasting my time, I will kick the shit out of you.
MARCELLUS
Just wait.
The shadow randomly appears.
HORATIO
Oh my God! You weren't lying. Is it just me, or does that look like the boss though?
MARCELLUS
Ya know, it does a little bit. And he just died recently, shot in a drive-by shooting.
HORATIO
So why is he here? We didn't kill him.
MARCELLUS
I'm not sure exactly, but hey, we got us some fun time.
The ghost continually gets brighter until he looks just like the old CEO of the company.
Horatio
Dude, you gonna talk to us, or just stand there looking like some kind of moron?
Marcellus
Wouldn't you be the one looking like a moron that is trying to talk to a ghost.
Horatio
Dude, I've got training in the supernatural field. Don't worry about me. They do speak.
Horatio looks at the ghost.
Horatio
Now talk dammit!
The ghost disappears, leaving Horatio and Marcellus staring in awe, slightly upset that the ghost isn't speaking.
Horatio
That stupid bastard.
Marcellus just stands there, looking at Horatio, a crooked grin on his face.
Marcellus
Believe that there's a ghost haunting the building yet, Horatio?
Horatio
Shut up, punk.
Marcellus laughs and goes to the elevator. The two get into the elevator and the scene cuts to black.
Int. Conference Room - Next Morning
Claudius is seen sitting at the end of a long table. A whole group of people are sitting along the table, lining the entire thing, end to end. Claudius is talking, a stack of papers in front of him.
Claudius
So, now that our conference has begun, I would like to begin with you all coming.
Everyone nods, talking in agreement that it was no problem to show up on such short notice.
CLAUDIUS
As most of you may know, the former CEO of our beloved firm has passed, in a drive-by shooting inspired by gang violence. There is nothing that can be done about that, since the past is the past.
Hamlet is seen standing outside of the conference room, looking on at this. Claudius sees Hamlet looking in the room.
CLAUDIUS
Come on in Hamlet. Don't be a stranger, my friend.
Hamlet continues looking on.
Hamlet
(Quietly)
A little more than kin, and less than kind.
Hamlet walks into the room. Gertrude comes in a few seconds later as well.
CLAUDIUS
Hamlet, my nephew, and my son. What is bothering you. Are you still upset at your father's death?
HAMLET
Bothering me? Nothing's bothering me. I'm nothing but sunshine.
Gertrude
Hamlet, you need to let it go. Everyone loses their father at some point. Your father's father died, and so did his father.
CLAUDIUS
Yes. It's something you need to realize.
HAMLET
I just don't think that you guys understand what he meant to me.
CLAUDIUS
You just... Keep yourself out of trouble.
Hamlet sits down, far enough from Claudius to feel comfortable. Laertes stands up.
Laertes
Sir, I was wondering... I'm a college student, and I'm going to Yale. As you may know, I'm missing a month's worth of work to be here, so I was just curious as to whether you would let me go back.
CLAUDIUS
Has your father said he's alright with you going back?
Polonius
I told him it was OK as long as you said the same.
CLAUDIUS
Well then, go ahead.
LAERTES
Thanks.
Laertes sits back down. Hamlet then stands up.
HAMLET
As you may know, Claudius, I am also attending college, and I came back as well, for the same reasons that Laertes returned. I was wondering, will you let me go back as well?
CLAUDIUS
Hamlet... I think you should stay a little longer. You just don't seem fit to be back at school. Wait just a while.
HAMLET
Yes sir.
Hamlet sits back down.
CLAUDIUS
Well, if everything else is finished, then I'm going to say that we're done, and you may all go.
Everyone leaves except for Hamlet, who remains seated.
