GABRIEL
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.
CUT TO a shot of Gabriel standing over a man lying on a set of stairs. Gabriel has his pistol pointed directly at him.
BOOM! As it fires we cut back to Gabriel in the church. He kneels in front of a large crucifix and touches the five points of the cross on his chest. He walks down the aisle and pushes open the large double doors, filling the screen with bright white light from the outside world.
As we focus back in, The Rolling Stones “Sympathy For the Devil” plays. A caption slams on screen that reads:
THE MARK
VINCENT, in a nice suit, is escorted up the court house steps by some uniformed police. Media surrounds the entire scene.
CUT TO Vincent sitting in a diner across from Gabriel.
VINCENT
Between you, the family, the cops, I’m losing track of who wants to kill me!
CUT TO another caption slamming on screen that says:
THE COPS
Two cops stand in a parking lot. DETECTIVE MARSH and DETECTIVE FIELDING. They approach Gabriel from behind. He turns to see them.
GABRIEL
Hello Detectives.
CUT TO a caption that slams on screen.
THE DON
The Don stands against the wall, looking out the window. BOBBY CARLO stands next to him patiently.
DON DENUCCI
No. We need to do it before his trial. If he is going to squeal, chances are he will do it in court.
BOBBY CARLO
That's tomorrow.
DON DENUCCI
You think I don’t know that? Get someone on it.
(Pointing out the window)
We need to be careful of our two friends in blue as well.
From inside the window we see a large white van sitting across the road.
DON DENUCCI
Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone.
Carlo smiles and nods.
CUT TO a caption that reads:
THE GIRL
Now the scene is a dimly lit nightclub. IRIS stands alone in a spotlight on stage, singing. Gabriel sits near the bar watching her.
CUT TO the last caption that reads:
THE HITMAN
Gabriel sits in a clock tower, his back against the edge. He holds a sniper rifle in his arms.
CUT TO Gabriel, Vincent and DARIO in a small warehouse. Gabriel has a gun pointed at Dario.
VINCENT
It doesn’t have to be this way, Gabriel. Whatever the Don said, we’ll handle it. Let me help you.
Gabriel takes the gun away and backs up.
GABRIEL
He wants to trade. Their life for yours.
Vincent’s eyes widen as he pulls his own gun and puts it to Dario’s temple.
VINCENT
Maybe you were right!
CUT TO Iris and FATHER KEATON, tied back to back inside a small bathroom.
FATHER KEATON
If anyone can take down the Mafia, it’s him.
Now the screen is silent, with only a HEARTBEAT heard.
PAUL VYKELTI is bent over, washing his face in a sink. As he raises his head, eyes still closed, we see Gabriel standing behind him in the mirror.
HEARTBEAT continues.
Now we see a man in a freezer, walking through large hanging slabs of meat. Through the hazy fog, we see Gabriel pull a gleaming blade and slowly put it to his throat from behind.
CUT TO A mobster walking the halls of a house, as the HEARTBEAT continues, we see Gabriel’s legs coming out of an air duct in the ceiling. Just about to grab the man’s neck.
Now the sound comes back in, playing the end of “Sympathy for the Devil”.
Gabriel and Vincent are in the warehouse again.
GABRIEL
Vincent, are you sure you’re willing to die today?
Vincent nods.
GABRIEL (cont.)
That’s all I needed to know. Let’s give them a war…
CUT TO Gabriel in an elevator. There is a dead thug sitting against the left wall of the elevator, blood covering his face. The chipper elevator music plays as Gabriel stares straight ahead.
