FADE IN:
EXT. NEW YORK STREETS - DAY
An unshaven man, with long auburn hair, wearing a long trench coat with strange eyes, red iris on back sclera, falls to his hands and knees. The man is GAMBIT.
He struggles to crawl as his body begins to stiffen.
CUT TO:
INT. SUBWAY BATHROOM
Gambit pulling himself up in Subway Bathroom, He holds himself up at a basin and looks in the mirror in front of him
Gambit’s eyes glow, his irises are bigger than ever before. He looks at his hands, pink sparks dart across his palms uncontrollably...
SINISTER (V.O)
You have a power Remy LeBeau… a power far greater than you can control. I know with each passing day, the power only grows and racks your body with unimaginable pain...
Like a bolt of lightning it hits him, his body goes stiff, power far greater than a master thief can control surges through his body.
He lets out bursts of kinetic energy, charging the basin in front of him, it explodes and the glass from the mirror in front of him collapses. Remy stumbles backwards weakly and crashes through a stall and passes out next to the toilet inside.
CUT TO:
INT. DARKENED ROOM
Gambit kneels in a concentrated spotlight, the only real light in the room. It illuminates a dark figure in front of him, making his pale face and deep red eyes visible … SINSITER.
SINISTER
Pain you haven't felt since you left New Orleans I would wager....
Gambit looks at him intensely.
CUT TO:
EXT. NEW ORLEANS STREETS - NIGHT
Remy reaches forward, he tries to slip his hand into the lady's pocket. Suddenly sparks come from the woman's jacket. An electrical energy courses through Gambit's hands to the woman's clothing.
Remy contorts as he releases an unexpected burst of kinetic energy from his fingertips to the woman. Gambit drops to his hands and knees, his breath rapid and irregular.
He slowly cranes his neck up, and there he sees her...
... The woman lies on the sidewalk, her eyes roll back into her head and she is foaming at the mouth. She doesn't move.
CUT TO:
INT. DARKENED ROOM
SINISTER
I'm offering you a way out from your pain, your agony, a chance to lead an elite team in The Marauders. Do you accept my terms?
Gambit looks down at his hands, as if searching for answers. He avoids eye contact with Sinister for as long as possible …
GAMBIT
… Yes …
SMASH CUTS:
INT. SECURE RESEARCH FACILTY, WEST WING - NIGHT
A wall is broken through leaving a huge seven foot high hole. The beast like form of SABRETOOTH walks through; he lifts and throws anyone he can get his hands on.
Several guards hurtle through the double doors at the end of the corridor. They shoot at the intruders and captive to no avail.
Sabretooth advances towards them, the shots from the guards' stun guns having no effect on him. He slashes at them with his Talons killing and maiming them.
INT. SECURE RESEARCH FACILITY, EAST WING - NIGHT
Several Guards break through the doors looking to fortify the East Wing; they have riot shields and duck behind them.
It does little good as RIPTIDE begins to spin at Super Human speeds.
He blows down the hallway like a Tornado. The guards are thrown off their feet by the velocity of Riptide's spins.
EXT. OUTSIDE SECURE FACILITY - NIGHT
Sabretooth breaks through the front door.
Guards mobilise in front of Gambit and his team mates, armed with considerably more than stun guns now.
Gambit holds a metal sphere in his hand, it begins to glow and he throws it. It EXPLODEs after colliding with the ground. Remy throws the metal sphere towards their feet, it lands -- With a BOOM and explodes.
The guards are thrown against the surrounding fences behind them.
CUT TO:
EXT. OUTSIDE SECURE FACILITY – NIGHT
Riptide blows past Gambit knocking him to the floor. He looks up from the floor to see Sabretooth and Riptide make it through the fence. His team mates are free - he is left behind.
Remy scrambles forward trying to join his team mates. He feels the presence of guards around him. Remy gets to his feet, his hands clasped around his staff, he is about to swing it - defend himself. But he feels a gun pushed against his temple.
BELLA DONNA BOUDREAUX (O.S.)
You always knew how to make an exit.
Remy smiles, relieved.
REVEAL:
An attractive blonde woman in clothes not unlike Gambit’s.
She shoots one of the Secure Facility’s guards and the pair rushes towards the fence.
CUT TO:
INT. SINISTER'S LAIR, ABANDONED THEATRE - NIGHT
GAMBIT
I believe in the cards, and I'm out of the game here an' now.
SINISTER
Have faith Mr. LeBeau, that you will be out when I say you are out ... Our new associates require your specific skill for insinuating yourself into places you don't belong.
CUT TO:
INT. SINISTER'S LAIR, EMPTY LABORATORY
Sinister throws Scalphunter back against the wall.
SINISTER
LeBeau is a pawn in an elaborate game of chess. He will be sacrificed for the good of the king one way or another. Remy LeBeau is weak Scalphunter, but his mind is not broken. It will be … I've seen what he fears the most; I have looked into the archives of his memory and seen him at his weakest point. I shall break him …
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB, GRAND BALLROOM - NIGHT
A girl enters from a door off to the side of the Grand Ballroom.
She is dressed all in white however her hair has been dyed several different colours. She stands out from the surrounding members of the club.
The girl is TOMMY.
SINISTER (V.O)
Tonight, she'll be visiting the Hellfire Club. You will find her there.
OFF SCREEN:
A Large THUD followed by a BANG is heard.
The front doors of the club falling off their hinges to the marble floor. Sabretooth and Riptide walk through.
EXT. TRAIN YARD - NIGHT
Tommy sneaks through the Labyrinth of motionless train carriages in the darkness.
TOMMY
(To herself)
Who where those people? Why are they looking for me?
She closes her eyes.
BLACK SCREEN
SMASH CUT:
EXT. TRAIN YARD - NIGHT
She opens them; Riptide appears almost out of nowhere.
RIPTIDE
Boo!
Tommy runs, Riptide cackles with laughter.
The BEAT of a Heartbeat is heard.
BLACK SCREEN
A playing card begins to fall.
SMASH CUTS:
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB, GRAND BALLROOM - NIGHT
Inside the club, Riptide tears tiles from the floor, as he spins almost out of control around the room.
INT. MORLOCK TUNNEL
Vertigo uses her vertigo inducing Psionic pulses to knock people out and stop them in their tracks.
BLACK SCREEN
More cards begin to fall, almost in slow motion as the HEARTBEAT increases with every second.
CUT TO:
EXT. OUTSIDE SECURE FACIILTY- NIGHT
Scalphunter picks off a few guards with his shots from his gun.
EXT. HELLFIRE CLUB – NIGHT
Mystique floors several guards with acrobatic kicks and takedowns.
BLACK SCREEN
Cards continue to fall, all landing with a loud THUD.
CUT TO:
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB, GRAND BALLROOM – NIGHT
Bella Donna hits a Hellfire Club Bouncer with several stiff forearms knocking him unconscious.
BLACK SCREEN
Finally the final Card falls – THE ACE OF SPADES. It lands atop the pile without a sound.
CUT TO:
INT. HELLFIRE CLUB, GRAND BALLROOM - NIGHT
Sabretooth pounces towards the screen, unleashing a sickening GROWL.
FADE TO BLACK:
GAMBIT (V.O)
What is it that pulls a man in many directions all at once, but which at the same time also holds a man together?

And now, for my greatest trick –
Gambit throws two playing cards into the air, one falls to the floor and EXPLODES on impact.
