Now, before I say anything, I do realize that Daz claims this episode was more of a slower, non-plot based showing. Despite this, however, I think it has some of my favorite moments of the show thus far, sprinkled in fair helpings throughout. Doe's brief appearance as a doctor was charmingly well done, and Rebecca herself was immediately likable and well written; some of the exchanges between her and John reached heights of humor, as well as insight. More so then that, though, or Doe, or anything else; is the emphasis on the retrievers here, and, for the first time, a real in depth look at the personal structure that makes up the group. I thought Wallace was well handled, and Lyra; they make a good, troubled pairing, and sometimes it is hard to tell exactly where their thoughts lie. I suppose this is what makes the show so enjoyable, though; there is always, always an element of mystery.
There are going to be somewhere in the ballpark of nine episode this season. We have just seen four. That means we are at the point where we can expect to be lead, somewhat. I sense that the next few episodes will have an increased pace, and will really start putting the pieces in motion for the finale. In so, I hope it does keep what this episode had; the charm and enjoyment of a fresh plot that knows it has plenty to offer. A seemingly episodic natured show has managed to be anything but, and if it can pull through to the finale; I think it is in the home stretch for as long as it wishes to remain. The next few episodes are, not to cause any pressure, the big ones, and really, the determining factors.
Overall, a wonderfully written segment involving affection and relationship (which is the central theme of the episode), along with a few other segments (I am making a point that this episode really was the first true blue ensemble one), all equally achieved. It is the first time the show really, really ended on a cliffhanger, and I am interested in how the events and movement seen in this episode will effect, not only the future of the show, but even the very next scene. I do sense a storm brewing, though, I tell you.
Very good Daz, the show has yet to falter, or lose the same light it started with. One of the most consistent shows we have had, and this episode here is, while not as important as the others, is still great. I'd rank:
Pilot: Part 2 Episode 3 Pilot: Part 1 Episode 4
(That is just off the top of my head)
It is a shame not as much people are viewing as should be; because this is a show which would be fun to discuss, and fun to enjoy as a whole; however, what can you do? Daz has been working hard on this (quite hard, at that), and his efforts have more then paid off. A very good outing for a show which has true potential in its grasp; so long as it pulls through the next few episodes with the same vigor it has had.

im sorry for not getting to this quickly. again, another impressive episode. i like the slower flow to the show, creates more "moments" in my mind. a perfect winning streak of episodes so far.

Really good episode. I think it shows a lot of progress on John's part.
One thing I'd like to say about what I think is going on is that it seems that John is clearly missing something. There's something he needs to find to complete his life. That one of these lives is the right one for him. I look at it like "The Constant" from Lost. While Daz doesn't like this episode, I feel they have a lot in common. I think John needs to find something that completes his life, something that sticks in every life. It already seems to look that way what with Helen, Lauren, Julia and Third Street. There has to be some ultimate goal and I'm sure Daz will handle it very well. I cannot wait to see what direction this takes in the long run. It has the potential to be one of the best works ever released here on Movie Reels. Already an amazing idea with tons of potential.
Daz if you're ever needing any help or anything of the like with this, I'd love to help.
