"Jungle of Change" (Max) “Jungle of Change” is probably the shortest film (and I say film excluding “Finnegan’s Wake”) Movie Reels has seen; I believe it is three pages. There is no real story, no characters beyond a man we hardly know; and finally no real coherent message, except to show us the tragic aftermath of trauma and how some events in our lives are far to significant to simply leave behind for a “normal” life; because they change you, showing you what brutality you are capable of and how different you can be, when pushed to do so. It is not a pretty thing. As I said, though, this film is not, to say, a real film, but an idea. It is put out to provoke thought and to provoke more an effect after it is over then the short time while reading. Thus, there is nothing that I can really elaborate on, nothing I can really point out, in particular, as with any idea, everything lies in the viewer. I do think it is worthy to not, though, that it is a good concept for a short; and, for what it was, it was well done; well paced, but more so then that, with a smart sense of juxtaposition. Max seems to be showing us that he has potential; and within his next few films, the feature length ones, he will really blossom with it. Take this as both a promise for talent to come and a warning- for bleak, tragic and intelligent films in the future.

Thanks for the review! This is a real change from the review you wrote on Punisher (Which I have stated was a shit script) to this. I really agree with this whole review.

I really liked the way you seemed to direct in your script- by pointing out "steadicam" and such; it sems like you would be great at filming movies. Have you ever tried?

I write my scripts usually with the intent of directing. I once tried to film something but it feel apart. I had to be the Director, DiPi, Editor, Cameraman, and at times Act. And with that, I had to make my own equipment for specialty shots (A Dolly w/ Track, Crane, Steadicam. They were cheap to make but hard to make) and the Actors were horrible. I'll be attending the NYFA this year, so I'll be shooting something in 16MM with actual Actors.
