Firstly, I would like to say that this was a great script, a few errors here and there, but great nonetheless. There were many laughs, and it was a very interesting and funny story up until the end, which was rather clustered.
Besides the comedy, the character build up was also pulled of very well. Within the first ten pages, I knew Glenn and his gang as if they were my friends since birth, which is a good thing, and it helped me connect with the main character. Eric, however, was a little different. His character was built up well, yes, but it was hard to determine if he was a nerd or not. He liked Star Wars and comics like the others, but he just did not have the other nerd qualities, which I thought he would. Other than that, there is not much to say about the characters.
Generally, the plot was well played, but a little far fetched. I highly doubt a whole town would believe the world was going to end after some nerd found out through a video game code. Then again, this is the 1980s, without the internet and other things like that. Therefore, there is nothing to complain about with the plot, other than it was a little unbelievable.
In conclusion, I would say this is a slightly above average script. It was a great comedy and had a great build up for the characters. While there were a few problems with he format and grammar, I will not count those in my rating. If it’s an entertaining movie, it’s fine.
Now, before I give my final rating, I would like to say that the best part of this script was easily the Wrestlemania 3 video tape at the beginning. That had me cracking up for a few minutes, considering I am a huge wrestling fan.
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
