The movie opens in Green Bay, Wisconsin. You see Roy as a 10-year-old boy and his dad throwing a football.
Dad- Let's go with a run play.
Roy- OK, dad. Where should I go?
Dad- Go out there and run.
The dad throws the ball and it changes back to now. He is a 17 year old senior football player, playing every year since sixth grade.
Announcer- Roy Lawrence is running down the 50..... 40..... 30..... 20..... 10.... Touchdown!
Roy(thinking to himself)- I can't believe I made it! The winning touchdown!
Coach- You did good Lawrence. Now hows about playing on a real team, like... say, the Green Bay Packers, with like... say, People like Brett Favre and Darren Sharper.
Roy- Are you kidding me? You want me to join the Packers?
Coach- That's what I'm saying. And with me as the coach, and you as the player, I can make you famous.
Roy- Wait, you're the coach of the Packers?
Coach- Yep. Oh, and another thing. Stop calling me coach. It's Coach Jones.
Roy- Whatever you say Coach Jones.
The next morning, Roy and Bill are talking about the position that Roy will be playing on the Packers. It was decided by noon of that day that he would be a running back and a wide receiver. The next day, the first day of practice, Roy got only one touchdown, a sprained ankle, and got tackled on every other play. He got yelled at for missing the plays, so he had to run a lap around the field. After running, he met with the team and then he went home.
Brett Favre- Coach Jones, do you think he can make the team? He didn't do good at all today.
Bill- Don't worry, Favre. He will.
Darren Sharper- Yeah, why you pickin' on the rookie? Not his fault he's new.
Roy- Just wait, I'll do better tomorrow.
Favre- You better be, or you won't make the team.
Sharper- Just remember that in three weeks, it'll be your last chance to be on the team.
Roy(almost sarcastic)- Thanks for the reminder, Sharper.
Bill- Roy, are you OK? How's your sprained ankle?
Roy- It's alright. It'll be better by tomorrow.
Bill- Whatever, Roy.
The next day, Roy shows up with a limp worse than yesterday.
Bill- So, you gonna be able to play today?
Roy- Coach Jones, I can't.
The whole practice, Roy sits there, watching the other players. Three weeks later, Roy makes the team. He is a starting wide receiver, and he meets with the other players on the team.
Jeff King- So Roy, how was your first day as a Packer?
Roy- It was alright, Jeff.
Tony Lewis- So you say your first day was OK. It's not OK until you can play like me.
Johnny Thomas- Tony, are you trying to say you're actually good?
Tony- I'm not trying to say that I'm good, I know I'm good.
King- Tony, you're the worst guy on the team.
Roy interrupts.
Roy- So, when is the next practice?
Thomas- The next practice is tomorrow.
Tony- Jeff, tomorrow in practice we're having a one on one game. Roy's the QB.
Roy- Whoa, when did I get pulled into this fight?
Jeff- You got pulled into this when Tony thought he had some talent.
Tony- You know what Jeff? When I'm done with the game, you won't be able to walk.
Jeff- Why don't we make this interesting then? How about we make a bet... say.. $2000?
Tony- Yeah, let's do it. How about we double it though. $4000. What do you say?
Jeff- What do I say to that? I say you have a deal. Roy, you saw the handshake. You saw it!
Roy- Yeah, I saw it, but why bet that much?
Jeff- When someone like Tony bets you, you take the bet.
The next day, Tony and Jeff have their one-on-one. Jeff wins and Tony goes off on how the game was rigged, giving Jeff the $4000 anyway.
Tony- The game was shit, you guys had something going on.
Jeff and Roy sit down talking about the next practice game they have and Tony comes up, tackling Roy from the side and starts to call him a biased ref because he lost, and Jeff turns, punching tony in his mouth. Tony's mouth is bleeding and Tony stops talking. Jeff and Tony both end up with suspensions for the fight.
Asst. Coach Drake Jones- Do you boys know why you got suspended?
Tony- Because Jeff punched me in the mouth for no apparent reason?
Jeff- I punched you in the mouth because you were cocking off to Roy.
Tony- You know what? When we come back, I'm taking' you out.
Jeff- You know what? You ain't half the man you think you are. You and I both know you won't finish this fight.
Tony charges at Jeff, knocking him into the wall. Jeff gets up, spearing Tony and then Jeff punches Tony in the mouth, and Coach Drake Jones breaks it up.
Coach Drake- You calm the hell down. You two leave each other alone. This is why you got suspended in the first place.
Jeff- Oh, you mean the game that I won fair and square?
Coach Drake- That's right. For that stupid fight for pocket change.
Roy walks in, talking to Coach Drake about Jeff and Tony and why they're fighting. You then see Roy leaving.
Coach Drake- I just got done talking to Roy, and he told me how the fight started. Tony, he said it was your fault.
Tony- Roy's just saying' that to protect Jeff.
Coach Drake- Tony, this is the reason you two got into the fight. You going on about your stupid game.
Tony- Because the game was shit.
Jeff- You know what, Tony? I would punch you in the mouth again, but I don't want to get in more shit, so just shut the hell up.
Tony- What'll you do if I don't?
Coach Drake- You know what? Both of you shut the hell up.
Jeff- You are so lucky Coach Drake is here or I will punch you in the mouth again.
Tony- Oh I'm scared of you now.
Asst. Coach- This is your lucky day Jeff because I'm leaving I can't stand this constant fighting between you two.
Asst. coach Drake leaves and Jeff and Tony charge at each other as Roy walks in.
Roy- What in the hell is going on here?
They both are ignoring him.
Roy- Yo! What fuck are you two doing?
They stop fighting to talk.
Jeff- Tony still thinks that he is better than me.
Tony- I still don't think.
Jeff cuts him off.
Jeff- Ain't that the truth.
Tony-(laughing for Very Funny then stops) Very funny Jeff shut the fuck up.
Asst.coach Drake enters
Asst. coach Drake- So are you two girls done fighting or should I leave again.
Jeff- Were done for now.
Tony- Were done for know.
Jeff- Stop copying me.
Tony-Stop copying me.
Jeff-I mean it stop it.
Tony-I mean it stop it.
Jeff- Thats it.
He charges at Tony.
Asst.coach Drake- Well I'm leaving again.
Roy- Me too hey wait up Drake.
Asst. coach.- Thats coach Drake.
Roy- Yea who cares but anyway why are you letting them fight.
Asst. Coach- Because if they get it out now they might forget about it.
They both laugh will saying (Yea right they won't stop).
Roy- I don't see them stooping this fight until next year.
Asst. Coach- They have been doing it for three years now they won't stop.
Roy- Three years I've been here for half a year and there's more headaches than collage.
Jeff walks up covered in blood and tells Roy how he kicked Tony's ass again then Tony comes up and tells the complete opposite of Jeff said with him winning not Jeff.
Roy- You know what you two are more of a headache than collage so just shut the hell up and leave me alone.
Jeff and Tony just stare at him in shock that he said that and they go to say something and Roy Punch's both of them in the mouth and they both fall back holding their jaw.
Asst. coach- Wow Roy I never knew you had it in you to punch both of them.
Roy-I got sick and tired of hearing them and seeing them fight so I told them both off.
Asst. coach- I see that there both knocked out and on one punch too.
Tony and Jeff help eachother off the ground and look at eachother
Jeff- why did you punch us.
Roy- I was tired of the bullshit and the constant fightin between you two
Tony- yeah but you didn't have to punch us you could have told us to stop
Jeff- yeah for once Tonys right you could have told us to stop
Roy- well i did an you didn't listen so i punched you to shut you to up
Tony- i guess we did take it a little too far
Jeff- yeah guess we did
(They shake hands an swear not to fight the rest of the season)
Roy- now if you two asses don't mind we have a scrimmage game to get to.
Tony And Jeff- oh shit
Jeff- got so caught up in kicking eachothers ass we forgot about the game
Tony- how the fuck are suppose to get there in time we got no wheels
Jeff- I don't fucking know why you asking me
Tony- you are the only other person here
Jeff- Well why the fuck are we standing around we got two legs
an two feet lets walk
Tony- yeah right we are going to walk 50 miles to get to a scrimmage game
Jeff- well you got a better idea
Tony- hitch hike
Jeff- lets ask Roy for a ride
Tony- he left already
Jeff- back to my plan we walk
Tony- OK lets show these guys what two reformed guys can do
Jeff- yeah and lets make it to the game on time
Tony- yeah that will show them that we can change
Jeff - yeah well lets head out now
Tony- OK you first
(Tony and Jeff walk the whole 50 miles and the show up after the first quarter and asst. coach drake n coach Jones put them in and the team wins. they celebrate the wining touchdown throw and catch)
Roy- i though you said they would never stop fighting guess you were wrong there Drake
Asst. Drake- Thats Asst. oh who gives a fuck lets celebrate!
the whole team- Now where we going
Coach Jones- i don't know i didn't think we would win so your guys choice
(the team huddles up and decides where they are going and they let Tony and Jeff choose where they are going)
