“Father’s Day” is the film playing at the theater. It is a film of infinitive wonder and a true achievement that makes you want to grab every bad director around you and shout “this is cinema as art”. It is idea that if told to me as pitch story I would shrug off as “uninteresting” “boring” and “repetitious”. “Father’s Day” if none of these. The greatest segment, I felt was when the children were being asked what does your dad like to do? They didn’t blow the story out of proportions, they didn’t use hero’s that would make us all impressed. Their answers were things that we can all relate to. Their dads like to Fish, watch TV, and use their laptops. And that is why this film is so great, it takes pride in the small things of life and makes them seem like luxuries. Do your self a favor watch this film, you’ll find yourself spending a lot more time with your kids. Because this film doesn’t just show the mindless memories of children, it shows the impact small activates with your kids and how they can affect your children’s life forever. Again, you don’t have to be a god to impress your kids just take them fishing, watch TV now and then, even sit down and talk for a minute or two. And if you feel like showing them how lucky they are show them “Father’s Day”. This film will probably end up high on my list of the greatest films of the year. It may be number one, but only time can tell. It is definitely one of the life affirming movies out there and highly deserves the recognition I’m sure it will get. But not to say the film is flawless, I’m sure the production could have been better set-up. Some of the time the children were hard to understand and I felt it would have been better if they used a variety of children so we can see how we all relate. Overall, watch this film! Its worth the $6!
