Ok, just said here and read the entire script. Firstly, I'd like to do this review a little differently. As I read I listed the lines which actually made me pause to laugh out loud, calm down and continue reading-
"a sharpie up your shitter"
"How are things? Things are just fucking
rosey. I'm in a foreign country, in a bed
that's probably seen more spunk than
Miley Cyrus' crack and I've had to endure
nothing but talk about my ex. How 'bout
you?"
"So, good news and bad news. The good news
is, Cindy's not a racist."
"God Jennifer. Leave some for the rest of
us. You might as well take the whole
bloody bag. Whore."
"Did he realize your cunt smelt like
nail polish and tell you to get on your
bike?"
"Where's Samwise Flangee?"
All had me teary eyed with laughter. What a fantastic funny script. Coming into it I found it took me a while to buy into it. Around page 30 I was fully invested. The pure British cuntness of the characters was completely relateable for me. It was a very British script which naturally I loved. I'm not 100% sure if thats maybe put of our American friends from reading but 80% of the jokes should still have full effect.
As for the story, i loved its progression. One little touch I loved was the double montage. One in Amsterdam and one in Paris which mirrored each other. Very funny.
I think running jokes can sometimes be the funniest, and little things like Cia having a dildo up his ass after already having an anal inspection was honestly terrific.
One thing that hit me hard was towards the end when Daz and Jen have the confrontation on the train-
"I feel like this whole
relationship has been me chasing you. And
you just waiting until something better
came along"
- Now I've been in exactly this relationship as i'm sure many people have and it really hit home how well written and deconstructive this part of the script was. Its like things were said with so much clarity (which usually only does come a long time after you split from a person you love) and I found myself wanting to text my ex girlfriend these lines lol.
Other things I loved which are just so true to life- Daz trying to explain how only he can call his ex girlfriend a cunt. Tis so true. You had me grinning like I was in on some secret joke during this part.
Singing Boh Rhap was awesome. Simple as.
The Rap off was pure genius.
I loved Cia's little digs at Jeniffer. They were actually one of the biggest highlights of the dialogue.
Love the X men jokes.
One question; What song was you on about in reference to Samson and Delilah?
Anyway, sorry this 'review' has been a little in tatters but it is difficult to review because it is literally a dialogue based script. The characters were each clear and brilliantly realised. Despite all being a cunt in a way they were so lovable because we all have mates like them. Clever, vulgar, full of quotable one liners, this has been the best dialogue i've read in a script.
It was a complete laugh that managed to say something about the state of love, friendship and relationships without ever coming off preachy.
Adored it. Honestly guys. It was a pleasure to read. Annoyingly dont have any negatives. Maybe some more visual description would have been welcome to maybe paint the European scene but on the other hand that might have broken up the flow of comedy a bit.
A clear 5/5.
