INDY/VINCENT
The interviews will be in 4 parts:
1) The beginning of MR
2) Cristogate
3) The new direction of MR
4) The end of your time as Owner.
INDY: Do you have any regrets about your time as owner?
VINCENT: Of course. I regret putting myself before all of the staff members and not listening to their input on many occassions, I regret ignoring members concerns & important thoughts on serious situations and most of all I regret ever bringing back Cristo.
INDY:
Before we get into any of that, Cristogate, your resignation, etc..
Why did you start MR and what was your inspiration to create it? .
VINCE: Well, I like to try out new and original concepts and this was just one of those kind of things. I can't really say there was any inspiration behind it. It was more of an idea that just came to me and little by little it grew to something bigger with more and more ideas.
INDY: Would you consider yourself a movie buff, or a movie writer?
VINCE:
I'm a great writer -- but I'd definitely consider myself more of a movie buff. Although, I don't go to the cinemas as much as I use to -- I like to think that I know a lot about movies. I specifically can identify a year on almost any film without having to look it up. That can be a hard thing for most people to get.
INDY: So, how did Movie Reels come to be what it is today? How did it evolve?
VINCE: It became what it is today with a lot of hard work & effort through many different people. It started with this small idea that didn't have much direction and it eventually branched off little by little into what you have today.
INDY: I mean the history. How did Movie Reels begin?
Vince: Movie Reels went online in August of 2006. It started off as a very small community with people such as SCF, Daz, Peroxwhygen & Myself. Compared to todays standards -- I would say back then we had about 5 active members. There was no box office or award shows like we have today. I left Movie Reels in either December or January 2007 for my own personal reasons. It was then in November '07 that we relaunched and ever since that day we have taken off the ground full circle. We have many more active members, lots of quality films which we seem to have lacked during the 1st launch, award shows, the box office, video vlogs and especially how we all know each other on here -- little things like this made this site evolve into what it is today.
INDY: What was early 2006 MR like? What kind of movies were created then?
VINCE: It was a mere shadow of what it's like today. Back then Movie Reels was not visually appealing, it didn't have the majority of things which we now have and worst of all -- there was no chat so there was little to no interaction between members. In 2006 -- Movie Reels featured such films as Chickens on a Boat and we even had an entire pornographic series in the tv section which stepped way out of bounds as far as the Proboards TOS went. In general -- movies were short and were no where near the standards/quality of what we have today.
INDY:
So we have SCF to thank for Movie Reels. Lol. Over the course of your time as owner, did you ever seriously considering shutting down or "nuking" the site as it were?
VINCE:
Yes, I think a standing ovation for SCF is in order. He is the savior of Movie Reels, per-say. Being the former owner of this site -- I was the bearer of a lot of stress & hard times...not only on the site itself but in reality as well. As much as I considered stepping down from time to time which I eventually evidently happened -- I would never just leave and take the site with me. I'm not that cruel. That is why I handed the site over to someone who I can trust with 100% certainly to carry on what I've accomplished.
INDY: Last question for section 1. What was the hardest point while you were owner?
VINCE: I'd say the hardest point was when it came time to deal with Cristo's antics. There was just so much to deal with. My stress levels at the time were very high and my thinking level was very low. I literally had to deal with him every single day whether it be through the chat, the forum, private messaging, private chats or even on other forums. It was an on going battle that I couldn't win. Cristo would not stop unless he got what he wanted and it was countless demand after demand without letting up. I don't think I dealt with these situations as properly & professionally as I should have. Instead, I made myself look like a complete bigot and I certainly did not set a good example to the members of the site while I was still owner and while these events occurred.
