INT. TOBIAS'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Tobias walks wearily into his flat, taking his tie off. He looks up and gasps. A young blonde man in a black suit is in the flat, looking out of the window. The man turns around. He is wearing a dark red button up shirt, open at the collar with no tie. He smiles slightly and speaks in an upper class English accent.
THE BLONDE
Hello, Tobias.
Tobias is paralyzed in shock, a blank expression on his face. The man gestures to a steaming cup of tea on a small coffee table.
THE BLONDE
I hope you don't mind - I took the liberty.
Mr Reed crashes through the ceiling and lands on the coffee table, breaking it instantly. He SCREAMS in pain as the tea spills over him.
THE BLONDE
You never know when you'll need it.
Tobias's eyes light up, and he smiles nervously.
TOBIAS
No. I don't mind at all.
Tobias points a hand at Mr Reed and flicks it towards the open door. Mr Reed flies backwards in this direction, speeding through the door and hitting the adjacent corridor wall. The door slams shut.
TOBIAS
So... Who are you?
THE BLONDE
An intruder, clearly.
TOBIAS
No, I mean, what's your name?
THE BLONDE
(Hesitantly)
...Albert.
TOBIAS
Albert?
ALBERT
Albert Hingegale.
TOBIAS
...That's a bit of a mouthful.
ALBERT
Indeed. But we haven't got time for small talk. Your antics have gotten you noticed.
TOBIAS
..Antics?
ALBERT
...With the superpowers?
Tobias appears deep in thought for a moment longer.
TOBIAS
...Oh yes. Those.
ALBERT
Right now, all the wrong people are looking for you.
TOBIAS
Like who?
ALBERT
I wish I knew.
Albert sighs and sits down on the sofa.
ALBERT
I have a vast wealth of information at my disposal, but even I can't find out who these people are. All that the people I work with can determine is that you're being targeted by a secret government agency.
TOBIAS
Like MI5?
ALBERT
No, they're foreign. We don't know what nation they're affiliated with, but we do know their initials: V.T.F.
Tobias sits down in an armchair opposite Albert.
TOBIAS
What do they want from me?
ALBERT
Well, your new abilities suggest that something otherworldly is influencing you. I'd assume that they want to perform tests on you. But it would never end, Tobias - you'd be a guinea pig for the rest of your life.
TOBIAS
So what should I do?
ALBERT
My advice would be to run, to get out of the country. Take a cheap flight to Ireland, and then you can plan something larger scale while you're there.
TOBIAS
Pfft, I don't need to pay to fly.
ALBERT
Yes, you do. Using your powers is what got you into this situation in the first place. You need to use them as little as possible, or they'll be able to track you down.
TOBIAS
How do you know so much about how they found me?
ALBERT
...I just do.
TOBIAS
This is a prank, isn't it? Griffin put you up to this!
ALBERT
No, I don't even -
TOBIAS
Well, you can tell him that he's not fooling me again. I learned my lesson. I guess it was pretty stupid of me to believe that there was a naked fun run through London. Well, one bitten, twice shy, Albert. Get out of my house.
Albert's face twists in anger and frustration. He stands up and walks to the door. He hesitates, and turns to face Tobias.
ALBERT
When they send somebody to capture you... When you realize I was right... Give me a call. I'll forgive you. I always do.
Albert opens the door, walks through, and SLAMS it shut. Tobias is silent for a long moment.
TOBIAS
Yeah... Well... At least I'm not...
There is a long silence.
TOBIAS
...Hm.
CUT TO:
INT. CARPHONE WAREHOUSE - DAY
Griffin stands behind the counter in his uniform, sipping from a cup of coffee. Tobias angrily tries to pull open the glass door, which doesn't work. Griffin looks up at the sound. Tobias pushes the door open and storms inside, a TINKLE of a bell saluting his arrival.
GRIFFIN
We've been working here for fifteen years, and you still haven't learned how to do that?
TOBIAS
(Angrily)
Shut up.
GRIFFIN
...What? What did I do?
TOBIAS
You know damn well what you did. Very funny.
GRIFFIN
(Sighing)
Yeah, I guess it was kind of harsh of me to let you keep my car keys, thereby forcing me to walk five miles home. I'm so deeply sorry.
TOBIAS
What? No, not that. The whole government agent thing you tried to pull.
GRIFFIN
...What are you talking about?
TOBIAS
Look Griffin, I know it was you who sent that guy to my flat, so don't try and act like you had nothing to do with it.
GRIFFIN
I didn't have anything to do with it!
TOBIAS
...You didn't?
GRIFFIN
No! What happened?
TOBIAS
Well, I got home, and there was some guy in a suit there. He told me using my powers had gotten me noticed by a government agency, and that I should get out of the country. Ireland, he said.
GRIFFIN
So what did you say?
TOBIAS
I told him to leave.
GRIFFIN
What were you thinking? It sounds like he has inside information on the whole God thing! Didn't you think it was strange that he knew exactly what's been happening to you?
TOBIAS
I thought you'd told him to try and scare me.
GRIFFIN
Well, I didn't, and it sounds like you just turned down an opportunity to find out about all this.
TOBIAS
...Crap. I need to go home... Figure this all out.
CUT TO:
EXT. CARPHONE WAREHOUSE
Tobias walks out of the front door and down the street. We PAN to a black, expensive looking car.
CUT TO:
INT. NICK'S CAR
Nick sits in the car in his black suit. He straps on his seat belt and turns on the ignition. He drives after Tobias. As he drives, his blazer falls open, revealing a holster with a loaded gun in it strapped to his torso under the jacket.
CUT TO BLACK.
CUT TO:
INT. TOBIAS'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
Tobias opens the front door of his flat and sighs contentedly.
TOBIAS
Home...
He slumps down in an armchair. His phone rings with the ringtone 'Soulja Boy' by Soulja Boy. He sighs and takes it out of his pocket to answer it.
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
Tobias, I think I saw somebody tail you home.
TOBIAS
Oh come on, why would anybody want to follow me?
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
...Because you have super powers?
TOBIAS
...Oh yes. Those.
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
He was in a black car, and he was wearing a black suit.
TOBIAS
Like the Men In Black?
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
...Yeah. Just like the Men In Black. Listen, look after yourself, ok?
TOBIAS
Look, you're probably worrying about nothing. Albert was probably a homeless man who broke into my house and needed an excuse to get out quickly when I caught him.
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
A homeless man who knew everything about what's been happening to you?
TOBIAS
Griffin, homeless people are very wise. Haven't you ever seen Deal Or No Deal?
GRIFFIN
(Over phone)
They've never had homeless people on the Deal Or No Deal.
TOBIAS
Exactly. The homeless were clever enough not to get involved.
There is a KNOCK at the door.
TOBIAS
Oh, I need to go. Somebody's here.
He hangs up and walks to the door.
VISITOR (O.S.)
(From behind door)
Mr Connor?
Tobias opens the door to reveal Nick Savage, who smirks.
NICK SAVAGE
Mr Connor, we need to have a chat.
Tobias looks at the black suit and gulps loudly.CUT TO BLACK.
