playinggod
Tobias Ward, a young London slacker, finds himself in possession of extraordinary abilities after a visit from a mysterious stranger. However, despite being determined to avoid all responsibility, he finds himself being given the most important job of all; saving the world. Racing around the globe with friends old and new to find a way to defeat the greatest enemy the planet has ever faced, Tobias soon learns that having the power of a god is more complicated than it seems...
Old-timers will know this idea has been swirling around my head for years, and the old episodes of the aborted TV show version may still be around somewhere. Only now do I feel remotely ready to do the concept justice, and I hope you dig it. It's a comedy, but it's also a bit more dramatic than you'd expect; you could compare it to Groundhog Day and Eternal Sunshine in terms of tone. There'll also be some cool action and my attempt at creating a deep mythology, which I hope you will enjoy.
Overall, I'd describe it as a mix between Groundhog Day, Inception and Paradise Lost, which I know sounds very odd but I think it'll make sense when you read it. The only thing I've written over the last year is Ufology redrafts, so I'm excited to do something new.

I loved the idea when you first announced the show, and I love the idea now.

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.
So basically, while I've gotten a lot further than I did with the last draft of this script I attempted, I've run into the same roadblocks; I haven't outline thoroughly enough and I haven't researched enough. I'm kind of burnt out at the moment on this project so I'm going to take a stab at something else (another comedy concept I've had in my head for a few months), and come back to this with a fresh perspective sometime soon.
