Plot
A masked criminal, The Red Hood, is running around Gotham. Bruce decides this is the reason he will be come a masked avenger. He thinks that becoming Batman is the only way to take him down.

EXT. WAYNE MANOR- MORNING
Bruce Wayne is walking around Wayne Manor. He looks around and walks out a door. He picks up a bag and puts it on his shoulder. He hops on a motorcycle and drives away. Alfred is looking down at Bruce.
EXT. HIGHWAY- MORNING
Bruce is riding the motorcycle. He pulls off to the side and stops at a gas station. He sees a newspaper. On the front it shows the headline "The Red Hood Strikes Again". He opens it up and flips through. On one of the pages it says "10 Year Anniversary Wayne Murders". Bruce throws it on the ground and drives away.
INT. AIRPORT- MORNING
Bruce Wayne is walking down a terminal at an airport. He goes through all of the things at an airport. He finally sits on the airplane. He is reading an article in the newspaper. The camera turns and shows the front cover of the magazine. It says "Bruce Wayne, Millionaire Turns into a Bad Boy. What happened and what went wrong? Page 6"
BRUCE WAYNE (V.O.)
My parents.....were killed when I was eight.
EXT. ALLEYWAY-NIGHT
Thomas, Martha, and a young Bruce Wayne are walking down an alley way.
THOMAS WAYNE
C’mon Bruce, let's hurry it's getting late. It's almost your birthday.
Martha looks at her watch.
MARTHA WAYNE
Actually, It just reached midnight. Happy Birthday, Bruce.
Martha puts her hand on Bruce's head, and ruffles his hair. A thug comes out of the shadows. He has a heavy beard on his face. A gun is in his hand.
THUG
Gimme your money.
Thomas reaches in his pocket and pulls out his wallet.
THOMAS WAYNE
Here just take it.
He tosses the wallet to the thug.
THUG
Thanks.
The thug walks away.
THUG
Oh yeah.
The thug turns around and shoots Thomas and Martha in the head.
THUG
Happy Birthday, kiddo.
BRUCE WAYNE (V.O.)
I was never the same again.
Dramatic music plays. Black covers the screen. The Bat-Logo fades in. The words
"Batman: Origins" fades in on the screen.
"Eight Years Later"
EXT. GOTHAM CITY-AFTERNOON
A helicopter is flying over the sky. The camera focuses on a train.
INT. TRAIN- AFTERNOON
James Gordon is sitting on the train. He is resting his head on his hand.
JAMES GORDON (V.O.)
Gotham City, I suppose I deserve it. Maybe it's my time in this hell. Twelve Hours, my stomach has been trying to eat itself for the last five. Barbara is flying in. I don't care how much it costs; money doesn't matter in this situation. Train is not the best way to come to Gotham.
James is unsettled in his seat. The person next to him keeps on looking over at him.
JAMES GORDON (V.O.)
In an airplane, from above, all you'd see are they buildings and streets. Just a way to fool you that Gotham is civilized, like it's a normal city. Trust me, I know Gotham is not. I don't want to come back. I have to, I have no choice.
Different views of Gotham are shown from outside the window.
EXT. AIRPLANE-AFTERNOON
The camera shows a view of the airplane, so the bottom is shown.
Flight Attendant (V.O)
We are now arriving at Gotham City.
INT. AIRPLANE-AFTERNOON
Bruce Wayne is sitting on the plane. He is dressed in all black. He has a light beard on his face.
BRUCE WAYNE (V.O.)
I should be on the train. I need to be closer. I'm way too far. I should see my enemy.
EXT. AIRPORT-AFTERNOON
The plane lands.
INT. AIRPORT-AFTERNOON
Bruce is walking through a terminal; he is wearing sunglasses and a hat covering his face. People start to look at him funny.
EXT. Storage-DUSK
Bruce is walking with a man who works at the Storage. The man is holding a clipboard.
STORAGE EMPLOYEE
Uhh.... Storage number 454, for a....Matches Malone. That you?
BRUCE WAYNE
Yep.
The Storage Employee throws him some keys. A motorcycle and a car are inside.
EXT. WAYNE MANOR OUTSIDE-DUSK
A car pulls up. Bruce gets out and is carrying his stuff to the door. He knocks on the door. The door opens, Alfred Pennyworth is there.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Hello? Oh, how can I help you?
BRUCE WAYNE
You can direct me to my room. Eight years has made me forget. Can you believe it?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
May I ask who you are?
BRUCE WAYNE
It's me Bruce.
Bruce walks past Alfred and looks around.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
That's impossible.
BRUCE WAYNE
No, improbable. Eight years in the Middle East training and getting slammed in the head every day could do wonders to you.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
No, I mean Bruce Wayne is dead.
BRUCE WAYNE
No, it's me Alfred.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Leave, now. I buried Bruce Wayne five years ago. Right next to his parents.
BRUCE WAYNE
But...
Alfred pulls out a shotgun.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Leave, now.
Bruce Wayne walks outside and gets in his car.
INT. STORAGE-NIGHT
Bruce pulls his car into the storage. It is a rather large area, about the size of a living room. There is a small cot inside there. He lies on top of it. He wakes up in the morning, changes his clothes, gets on his motorcycle, and drives away.
EXT. GOTHAM’S DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE-MORNING
Harvey Dent is walking out of building. News reporters are coming up to him. People are taking pictures of him.
News Reporter
Mr. Dent! Mr. Dent! How do you feel about this Red Hood character?
Harvey Dent
As DA, I plan to help take this man down. His reign of robberies is over. No more questions please.
Harvey walks up to his car and gets in. He sits down the car starts to drive. He looks to his left and Bruce Wayne is next to him.
HARVEY DENT
Bruce! What are you doing here?
BRUCE WAYNE
You act like you saw a ghost.
HARVEY DENT
Well, I did.
BRUCE WAYNE
Oh, not you too.
HARVEY DENT
Bruce you've been reported dead for five years now. I mean it's kind of hard to hear that your childhood friend died, and then have him in your limo the next day.
BRUCE WAYNE
Well, I don't know. Maybe you should try it. Just don't tell me when you are doing it or where you're going.
HARVEY DENT
That's just like you Bruce, always the kidder.
BRUCE WAYNE
Just a way to cope with what happened. So how's your life here in Gotham City?
HARVEY DENT
Apparently you haven't heard.
BRUCE WAYNE
(Holds up an obituary)
Yes when did I have the time?
HARVEY DENT
I'm the DA of Gotham City.
BRUCE WAYNE
Wow, and I'm the dead boy. Amazing. Can I ask a question?
HARVEY DENT
Go ahead.
BRUCE WAYNE
Has Alfred...lost it?
HARVEY DENT
A tad, he lost all of his family, including you. If I was you I just wouldn't visit him.
Bruce has a weird look on his face.
HARVEY DENT
You didn't?
BRUCE WAYNE
Well...I didn't know people thought I was dead.
HARVEY DENT
I guess we'll have to visit him. You can crash with me. One question, how'd you get in the car?
BRUCE WAYNE
I opened the door.
The two pull up to his apartment. A motorcycle is in the way.
HARVEY DENT
(Pointing at the motorcycle)
Oh, now whose is this?
BRUCE WAYNE
Mine.
HARVEY DENT
Wait so you planned this whole thing out?
BRUCE WAYNE
Yes, that's what I did in my absence.
HARVEY DENT
Planned to crash the night at my place?
BRUCE WAYNE
No.
INT. HARVEY DENT’S APARTMENT-AFTERNOON
Bruce and Harvey walk in. Bruce looks around.
BRUCE WAYNE
Can I shave?
HARVEY DENT
Yeah, third door to your left.
Bruce walks away into the bathroom. Harvey sits to himself watching TV. He pulls out a half dollar.
HARVEY DENT
Should I let Bruce stay with me for a while, or only one night? Heads or Tails?
Harvey flips it into the air. It flies up into the air and close to the camera. It lands on his floor. It is heads up.
HARVEY DENT
Thanks, Dad. Without this coin, I'd go insane.
Bruce comes out clean shaven.
BRUCE WAYNE
So, did Alfred, really bury a body?
HARVEY DENT
Yeah, it looked like you, too many bruises and bullet holes to tell.
BRUCE WAYNE
Really? Well, alright then.
Bruce gets up and walks away into the back of the apartment.
HARVEY DENT
You can stay as long as you want.
INT. GOTHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT-NIGHT
Lt. James Gordon is walking to his office and he sets his coffee cup down, he starts writing different crime reports. Detective Harvey Bullock comes in to his office.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Hey, Gordon, It's go time; we've got a lead on this Red Hood guy.
Gordon and Bullock are walking out of the Police department. They hop in a Police car and start driving, the sirens are on, and many other cop cars are following them. Bullock turns on the radio. "Stuck In The Middle With You", Bullock is humming the tune. Gordon reaches up and turns off the radio.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Hey, what was that for?
JAMES GORDON
I'm trying to drive.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Yeah, so did you have to turn off the radio?
JAMES GORDON
I can't concentrate when I have music pounding my skull.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Look, c'mon just cool down.
JAMES GORDON
No how about you calm down.
POLICEMAN (O.S)
This is the place right up here on the left.
Gordon picks it up.
JAMES GORDON
Roger, that.
The two pull up to the place, it says "Gotham National Hotel". Gordon and Bullock open their car doors and draw their guns. Bullock is guiding everyone on where to go.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Snipers, I want you guys right here checking the whole place. We'll wait until they find him.
The camera shows a close up of all the snipers. They are looking at all the different floors.
SNIPER 1
Found him, 3rd floor.
HARVEY BULLOCK
You heard the man move.
They all start running towards the building.
SNIPER 2
NO WAIT.
They all stop running.
HARVEY BULLOCK
What?
SNIPER 2
There is another. Top Floor
SNIPER 3
And another, 23rd floor.
HARVEY BULLOCK
There trying to fake us out.
Bullock grabs a pair of binoculars. The camera shows what he sees. There is a Red Hood on almost every other floor.
HARVEY BULLOCK
God, they're trying to fake us out, snipers shoot to injure on 1.
All the snipers put there fingers on the triggers.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Three...........
Gordon holds his gun.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Two...........
Many other cops hold their guns
HARVEY BULLOCK
One...
Bullock gets cut off because the building explodes as a man on a motorcycle comes out of the building. The motorcycle drives past all of the cops and he starts to get away.
HARVEY BULLOCK
SHOOT HIM.
Gordon gets in the cop car and Bullock jumps in.
HARVEY BULLOCK
What the hell?
JAMES GORDON
Buckle up.
The two are chasing the man on the motorcycle. He has a red helmet, a cape extending from it. He is wearing a black tuxedo.
JAMES GORDON
Hold on to the wheel.
Gordon pulls out his gun and leans out the window. He fires at The Red Hood. He swerves around as Gordon shoots at him. He starts to go off to the side of the road. He flies off into a river. Gordon skids and turns the car sideways to stop it. Gordon and Bullock get out of the car. They look down; The Red Hood's body is floating face down.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Well, I guess that's that. The red Hood is dead and done.
JAMES GORDON
I don't think so.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Don't Bullshit me, James
JAMES GORDON
Trust me; before my wife got in from Chicago, I was all over this case. We just saw, say about 20 Red Hoods. Then, we saw a Red Hood on a motorcycle; deliberately drive into a river, killing him. It's like they kill themselves to distract us from the proof.
HARVEY BULLOCK
How about this, if another Red Hood, murder or robbery happens. I give you my paycheck for two weeks.
Other cop cars show up.
JAMES GORDON
The body is down there.
Gordon points to the river.
EXT. HARVEY DENT’S APARTMENT- NIGHT
The camera shows Harvey's window from the outside. It opens up. Bruce is climbing out. He is in a black ninja suit; he climbs up the fire escape towards the roof. Bruce pulls a black mask over his face. He looks like a full blown ninja. The camera shows a pair of feet running. They are Bruce's. He leaps between to buildings. He stops and crouches on the edge of a building. He is staring at a thug. The thug pushes a man in an alleyway. Bruce gets out a rope, it has a hook on the end. He throws it; he holds on and swings on to a fire escape. He pulls out some small throwing stars. He throws two at the thug.
THUG
Hey, who threw that?
Bruce runs, dives off the building, and rolls on to the ground.
BRUCE WAYNE
I did.
He palms the guy in the nose, it stars bleeding. Bruce starts punching the thug.
THUG
Hey, man stop. Stop.
Bruce just keeps on hitting him. The thug starts bleeding a lot. Bruce has visions of his parents dieing. The thug passes out. Bruce checks his heartbeat.
BRUCE WAYNE
You'll live.
Bruce runs away and climbs up the fire escape. He keeps running to Harvey's apartment. He pulls open the window and climbs in. He takes off his mask before he goes in. Harvey Dent is in front of him holding up a gun.
HARVEY DENT
Get the hell out of my house before I shoot.
BRUCE WAYNE
Harvey, it's me, Bruce.
HARVEY DENT
Shit, Bruce. What are you doing out there; you scared me half to death.
BRUCE WAYNE
I was smoking, I'm quitting today.
HARVEY DENT
You smoke?
BRUCE WAYNE
Not any more.
HARVEY DENT
I'm going to bed.
INT. GOTHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT-MORNING
James Gordon is in his office he is studying pictures of The Red Hood murders. Bullock walks past his office.
JAMES GORDON
Hey, Bullock, get in here.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Yeah?
JAMES GORDON
You owe me.
Gordon tosses him some pictures.
HARVEY BULLOCK
You have got to be shitting me.
JAMES GORDON
Nope, two weeks.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Well, then. I'm gonna go investigate some more.
JAMES GORDON
You do that.
EXT. WAYNE MANOR-AFTERNOON
Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne drive up. Harvey Dent is outside the car.
HARVEY DENT
Bruce, stay here. Alfred could have a heart attack if he sees it's you.
Harvey Walks towards the Manor. Alfred opens the door.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Oh, Mister Dent. It's been awhile, come in, come in.
HARVEY DENT
Actually, I just have to ask you something.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Go ahead.
HARVEY DENT
Did a man come here the other day saying he was Bruce?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Sadly, yes he did. It such a rude thing to do...
HARVEY DENT
It's him.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Excuse me.
HARVEY DENT
It really is him.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
It can't be. We buried him, right next to his parents.
HARVEY DENT
Let me tell you something...
The camera is now showing what it looks like from Bruce's view. Harvey Dent is walking back to the car. He looks into the open car window.
HARVEY DENT
Get your bags.
INT. WAYNE MANOR-AFTERNOON
Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent are walking up, to Alfred.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Hello, Master Wayne. I'm so sorry, about what happen. The beard threw me off.
BRUCE WAYNE
I suppose the dead body didn't do you any good either.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
The question is who sent it?
HARVEY DENT
I suppose we'll never find out. I have to be going gentlemen.
Harvey walks towards the door. Alfred opens it for him and leads him out.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Come back anytime.
Alfred walks back to Bruce and grabs his face. He starts turning it, to get a good look.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Well, I guess that is you. My question is why someone would be that cruel to send a body, and say it was yours.
BRUCE WAYNE
We'll have to find that out.
Bruce Wayne starts to walk up a flight of stairs.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Master Bruce, remember that idea you had. The reason you left?
Bruce Wayne turns around and starts to walk down the stairs.
BRUCE WAYNE
Yes, why. You think it could work?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH

EXT. WAYNE MANOR-AFTERNOON
Bruce and Alfred are walking outside they stop at a well. It is boarded up.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
I bet you remember this very well.
BRUCE WAYNE
Yes, I do. I still don't see the significance.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Look at this.
Alfred bends over and takes the boards off of the well. He presses a button, and a makeshift elevator comes up.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Go 'head Master Bruce.
Bruce gets on the one person elevator. Alfred pushes another button and Bruce goes down. When it reaches the end he sees a gaping cave. Bats are all around hanging on the caves.
BRUCE WAYNE
What is this place?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Master Bruce! No!
All of the bats wake up and fly all around. They start attacking Bruce. He tries to swat at them. They all start biting him and he's bleeding. Bruce falls down and blacks out. The screen goes black. We see a pair of eyes opening.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
So Master Bruce, I was thinking.
Alfred is at a sowing machine.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
You said it was Bats that you fear?
He holds up the Batsuit. It's gray with a blue cowl and cape.
BRUCE WAYNE
It needs some weapons.
Bruce gets up and looks at the table. There are a bunch of gadgets and a utility belt.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Shall we test it?
EXT. GOTHAM CITY-NIGHT
Gordon and Bullock are driving in a police car.
Walkie Talkie
We have a robbery on 25th Street, over.
Bullock picks up the walkie talkie.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Roger, that.
JAMES GORDON
Is it, him?
HARVEY BULLOCK
No word, they probably would have said it on the report, we'll have to see.
The cop car pulls over at a bank. Other cops are standing outside. Bullock grabs a megaphone.
HARVEY BULLOCK
OK come out now before we spray you with bullets.
Gunshots come from out the building, a man comes limping towards the window and he leans against it and his back is facing us. He walks forward out of view. A gunshot rings out and blood appears on the window.
JAMES GORDON
GO, GO, GO!
They all charge towards the bank. Gordon is wearing a bullet proof vest, he opens fire on some thugs, Killing one, injuring another. Gordon shoots at one of the thugs and the thug disappears out of thin air. The camera cuts to a dark balcony of the bank. We see Batman in full costume for the first time. He is holding the thug by the collar of his jacket.
BATMAN
Who do you work for?
THUG 2
I work for no one.
The thug spits in Batman's face. Batman throws the thug down into the line of fire and suspends him in midair, via rope.
BATMAN
One more time, who do you work for?
The thug pulls out a gun and opens fire on Batman. Gordon looks up and holds a flashlight at Batman. We see Batman's cape flowing through the window. He escapes out of it. Gordon runs up the stairs following after him.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Gordon? Where are you going?
JAMES GORDON
Nowhere, just stay there.
Gordon keeps on running and climbs out the window. He sees Batman running off in the distance. He starts to chase him across the rooftop. He reaches the end of the building and opens fire on Batman, he hits him and Batman falls.
EXT. ROOFTOP-NIGHT
Gordon and other cops are walking up a stairwell.
JAMES GORDON
Now when I open the door, don't shoot.
Gordon opens the door and sees, Batman lying face down on cement. He picks him by the cape. Batman isn't there. It's just the cape and the cowl.
EXT. ALLEYWAY-NIGHT
Bruce is running down an alleyway, In the Bat-suit minus the cape and cowl. He has a blood stain on the shoulder of his suit. He slows down now that he knows he has gotten far enough away. Bruce turns his head towards the wall of the alleyway. "Crime Alley" is spray painted on the wall. Bruce looks towards it. A tear starts to squeeze out of his eye. Bruce presses a button and a car comes towards him. It is the Batmobile. He gets in and drives away.
INT. WAYNE MANOR-DUSK
Alfred and Bruce are walking and talking with each other. Bruce goes to a door that leads towards the well.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Uh...sir?
BRUCE WAYNE
Alfred I need to renovate the cave by tonight.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Already finished.
Bruce Wayne turns around.
BRUCE WAYNE
What?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Sir, I finished while you were out last night.
INT. BATCAVE-DUSK
Bruce and Alfred walk around the cave, looking at all the things. Inside are a computer, a training area, the Bat-Bike, Batmobile, Bat-Plane, a costume and gadget area, and an exit area.
BRUCE WAYNE
Alfred it’s so…amazing.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Anything for you Master Bruce, it’s just how I am.
Bruce Wayne walks around.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
I added something special for you.
BRUCE WAYNE
What is it?
The computer starts to beep out loud.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Press the button.
Bruce leans over and pushes the button. On the screen appears a map of Gotham City. A big red dot lies over an area. Icons of cop cars are moving from the Police Department to the Red Dot Area.
JAMES GORDON (O.S)
We’ve got another Red Hood Strike over at Axis Chemicals. All units respond A.S.A.P.
BRUCE WAYNE
Nice little touch.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Added it to your watch and the car also, now, I do believe duty calls.
Bruce walks over to the uniform stand and starts to suit up. Finally, he pulls the cowl over his face, and then continues walking towards the Batmobile. He jumps in and zooms off.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Godspeed, Master Wayne.
EXT. GOTHAM STREETS-DUSK
We see Gordon and Bullock riding in a police car with each other. The two keep on driving until they finally reach Axis Chemicals. They both get out of the car. James Gordon hold on to his walkie talkie. The windows of Axis Chemicals blow out.
JAMES GORDON
We’ve got another Red Hood Strike over at Axis Chemicals. All units respond A.S.A.P.
HARVEY BULLOCK
Let’s move.
JAMES GORDON
Wait until reinforcements come. It won’t be long.
EXT. GOTHAM STREETS-DUSK
Batman is riding in the Batmobile down the streets of Gotham City. He is turning sharp corners every minute. The GPS on his car tells him, he is almost there. When Batman gets there he stops and ejects himself out of the car, he flies through the window of the chemical place.
JAMES GORDON
Who the hell is that?
HARVEY BULLOCK
Come on, let’s go.
The two run into Axis Chemicals after Batman.
INT. AXIS CHEMICALS
The Red Hood is with some thugs inside the place.
THUG #1
Okay, all we gotta do is go right past the tanks and through the door. The money should be somewhere in there.
THE RED HOOD
Everything looks all red through this helmet.
THUG #2
No shit. You’re The Red Hood.
SECURITY GUARD
Hey you, freeze!
THUG #1
You said there’d be no security, ya asshole!
THE RED HOOD
They must have changed it. I don’t know, it’s been a while since I left, must have altered things.
THUG #2
(Pulling out a gun)
Altered things? I’m gonna alter your horse face.
The thugs shoot at the security guard. The Red Hood puts his hands up to where his ears are under the helmet.
THE RED HOOD
Everything’s so loud.
THUG #2
Let’s get the hell out of here, now!
All three start running away from the guard.
THUG #1
Which way do we go?
THE RED HOOD
I don’t know. I can’t see anything in this goddamn helmet.
THUG #2
I’m gonna kill you, you useless son of a bitch.
COP
FREEZE!
THUG #2
He’s The Hood! You want him.
Both thugs get up and are shot in the head. The Red Hood runs up a staircase and then goes on a catwalk. The cops are about to open fire on Red Hood.
COP
He’s the ringleader. Get ‘em.
BATMAN
No more shooting. I’m here now. I’ll take care of him.
Batman jumps over the cops. Bullock and Gordon walk in. Batman reaches The Red Hood.
BATMAN
Finally, we meet.
THE RED HOOD

EXT. AXIS CHEMICALS OUTSIDE-NIGHT
The Red Hood is floating in the chemicals outside now. He turns around and starts swimming. He finally reaches main land and takes off his helmet. He has very pale white skin. His hair is bright green. He puts his hands in is hair. The camera shows his face. He starts to laugh like a maniac. He gets up and walks away.
INT. HARVEY DENT’S OFFICE-NIGHT
A newspaper hits Harvey’s desk “Red Hood Escapes Police Crutches”.
HARVEY DENT
Son of a bitch, this guy needs to be caught.
JAMES GORDON
Well, what can we do? The guy’s dead.
HARVEY DENT
We don’t know that for sure yet. You never can tell.
JAMES GORDON
I hope he’s dead. (Pause) How’s Gilda?
James takes off his glasses and starts to massage his head.
HARVEY DENT
Good, very good. We’re trying to have a baby.
JAMES GORDON
Really? Well, best of luck to you two. I’ve got to get going now.
Gordon is walking out of the door.
HARVEY DENT
I’m taking on the Sal Maroni case.
JAMES GORDON
(Turning around)

HARVEY DENT

James Gordon walks out. Harvey pulls out his half dollar.

Harvey flips the coin in the air and a black hand grabs it. Batman is in his office.

I’m the man who is going to change everything Gotham. I’m gonna need your help.
Batman tosses him a package. The lights go out. Batman is gone. Harvey Dent picks up the package and opens it.
“This should be everything you need. -Batman”
Harvey looks through and it is filled with evidence to bring down the Red Hood Mob.
HARVEY DENT
Thank god for Batman.
INT. STORE-MORNING
A man walks into a costume shop. He has a hat covering his face.
EMPLOYEE
Can I help you?
MAN
Yes, I’m looking for a suit.
EMPLOYEE
What did you have in mind?
The man lifts his face up. It’s The Rood Hood. His face is completely white, hair green, and lips dark red.
MAN
Got anything in purple?
The Red Hood pulls out a gun and shoots the man in the head. He walks around until he finds a purple suit.
MAN
Ah…. This will do.
He takes about 12 Purple suits. On his way out he drops a Joker Card on the store floor.
INT. GOTHAM CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT-AFTERNOON
Gordon is in his office looking at the pictures of the robbery. Other cops are in his office.
JAMES GORDON
Any leads?
HARVEY BULLOCK
Well…none.
COP
That’s impossible.
JAMES GORDON
Exactly, this was left at the scene.
Gordon drops a card. It is a Joker card. On the back it says “Your friend, The Joker”.
INT.ASYLUM-NIGHT
The Joker walks in wearing his purple suit and a matching purple. In one hand he is holding a bag, the other a gun. He is walking towards the camera. The Joker aims the gun to the side and shoots the clerk. He walks towards a room labeled “Psycho Ward”. He kicks open the door.
THE JOKER
Sorry to wake you.
The Joker opens the bag and dumps it on the ground; guns and ammo come out of it.
THE JOKER
I’m looking for some help.
The Joker lets out a big grin.
THE JOKER
Who wants to have some fun?
The Joker laughs as the camera pans out.
EXT. GOTHAM STREETS-NIGHT
A skinny man is holding two revolvers, shooting them off at cars and people. He hits two people in the head and they fall to the ground. A bigger heavyset guy is attacking people with his fists. Batman swings down and drops kicks the guns out of the skinny guy’s hands.
SKINNY GUY
Hey! What the fuck?
Batman lands in front of the skinny guy. He decks him in the face. The heavyset guy is now choking a woman.
WOMAN
NOO!!!
Batman starts to hit the big guy, after a minute Batman finally delivers a final blow.
WOMAN
You’re….you’re…real?
Batman looks up into the air, uses his batgrapple and swings off.
INT. BATCAVE-NIGHT
Bruce is wearing the Batsuit, the cowl is pulled back. Alfred walks up with some food.
ALFRED PENNEYWORTH
Here you go Master Bruce.
BRUCE WAYNE
What would I do without you Alfred?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
You’d blow your money and sleep with many women.
BRUCE WAYNE
(Laughing)
I might have to rethink my options.
The Batcave TV turns on. On screen is The Joker.
THE JOKER
Hello, Gotham. I’m The Joker. Yes, yes, I know what you’re all thinking. Who the fuck is this bastard? I’m gonna say I really don’t care what you call me. I’ve been labeled a freak, a shame to the human race, and this was before my accident. I’d like to take the time to say this. I’m going to take down you’re so called god, Gotham City’s main man. That’d be, Bruce Wayne. What’s that? He’s alive? Yes, still the same old smug bastard, I used that term nicely didn’t I? I’ll also be getting Judge Lake. You don’t know when it’s coming, nighty, night Gotham.
BRUCE WAYNE
Well…this is awkward.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
I’ll get the phones ready.
Bruce ponders to himself.
INT. WAYNE MANOR-NIGHT
Bruce stands at his fire place. Cops are everywhere in the house.
JAMES GORDON
Mr. Wayne I assure you, we will do everything we can to save you.
BRUCE WAYNE
I know how set you are, but I have my own set of physicians of my own over here.
Bruce points to a group of people. Bullock offers Bruce a gasmask, but he pushes it away.
HARVEY BULLOCK
So what are they gonna do if you start laughing and turn as white as a ghost?
BRUCE WAYNE
They’ll inject a shot to slow my heartbeat, that way they poison moves slower. Then I’ll go to the hospital.
HARVEY BULLOCK
What if The Joker gets to the docs first?
BRUCE WAYNE
Fine, I guess I’ll take the mask.
HARVEY BULLOCK
I thought so.
Bullock tosses the gas mask to Bruce. Bruce walks over to his fireplace.
COP
Gordon all we have is him pondering.
Bruce puts his head in his hands and laughs crazily.
COP
Wait, we have a situation.
Bruce laughs harder and throws his head back. His face looks like The Joker’s.
INT. JUDGE LAKE’S HOUSE-NIGHT
James Gordon is standing by.
COP #2
Uh…sir, what’s going on outside?
JAMES GORDON
What is it?
Gordon looks outside. A car is driving towards the manor. Clowns are in it shooting off guns. They come to stop, get out, and lay heavier fire.
JAMES GORDON
Get down! (Into Walkie Talkie) This is Captain James Gordon. We are under attack. I repeat under attack.
INT. WAYNE MANOR
Cops are trying to hold down Bruce but he is violently trying to get away.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Keep him down. I need to get the shot in him.
COP
He’s…too…strong.
Bruce is laughing while they finally get him down. Alfred gives him the shot. He starts having flashbacks to the night when his parents died, the shot. His parents stand in front of him, splattered with blood.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Sir, wake up!
Bruce snaps out of it and is back to normal.
BRUCE WAYNE
Where are we?
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
A couple of miles away, we’re under attack.
EXT. STREET-NIGHT
The ambulance is being blocked off by the clowns in cars shooting.
INT. AMBULANCE-NIGHT
Bruce is putting on the Batsuit.
Bruce is in full costume and jumps out the back.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Godspeed sir.
EXT. STREET-NIGHT
Batman is on top of the ambulance. He is taking out the clowns left and right. The Batmobile pulls up and Alfred is inside.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH
Get in.
INT.AXIS CHEMICALS-DUSK
A man walks in with blonde hair, glasses, and a goatee. He is wearing a blue suit. He walks up to a worker at Axis Chemicals. He has white stains on his skin. Some of his hair is green, as are his finger nails.
WORKER
Who the hell are you?
MATCHES MALONE
Matches Malone, can I ask you some questions?
WORKER
Sure. Fire away.
MATCHES MALONE
Where’d you get those stains, the white skin, and green hair?
WORKER
It’s on my nails too. I must have gotten too close to the chemicals. Should seen the other guys, Blake Schneider put his whole hand in there. All of the hair on his arm turned green and his skin turned white.
EXT. AXIS CHEMICALS
Matches Malone is running outside. He rips off his moustache and goatee, and then takes off the wig. It is really Bruce Wayne. He runs to this river of chemicals and picks up a helmet; it is The Red Hood’s.
INT. BATCAVE
Bruce is on his computer typing a lot. A video pops up on his screen. The Joker is in front of him.
THE JOKER
Hello, Mr. Wayne. Nice to see you, or should I call you Batman? Yes that’s right I know everything. How? Oh you’ll have to come and ask me that in person. It’ll be easy, 31st street, top of the jewelers. I would say Be there or be square, but we all know it’s hip to be square. Ta Ta!
Bruce gets up and walks towards the Batmobile. He pulls up the cowl and jumps in the Batmobile.
EXT. ROOFTOP
A group of henchmen dressed like clowns are holding machine guns. They are guarding a man inside taking a jewel. Batman drops down and knocks out all of the guards. As The Joker comes out Batman grabs him.
BATMAN
WHERE’S ALFRED? Wait….you aren’t him.
Batman sticks his hand out and wipes the man’s face. All of the make-up comes off.
MAN
Don’t hurt me…
BATMAN
Where is The Joker?
MAN
At uh….uh….Haley’s old place.
EXT. HALEY’S CIRCUS
The Joker is walking through the circus area. He spins a cane around and around. The Batmobile pulls up and Batman jumps out before it stops.
BATMAN
Where is Alfred?
THE JOKER
Oh I can’t tell you that. Let’s wait for the man in charge.
Batman runs up to The Joker and punches him in the face. The Joker hold his cane and pulls it. It is actually a sword. He pulls it out all the way.
THE JOKER
Come on, Batsy.
The Joker swings at Batman as he runs towards him there. Batman gets cut in the arm.
BATMAN
Shit….ugh.
Batman kicks the sword out of his hand. The two fight for a while. Batman takes a Batarang and cuts Joker in the arm.
THE JOKER
I guess we’re even. You know both freaks. Only thing is, I’m wearing no mask, so why do you?
BATMAN
It’s because of the people like you that will try and destroy my family.
THE JOKER
Family? I thought mommy and daddy bit the big one.
Batman slugs Joker in the face. Joker takes out a gun and shoots Batman in the leg.
THE JOKER
Well…ain’t this disappointing.
Batman tries to hit Joker, but falls. He gets a call.
ALFRED PENNYWORTH (O.S.)
Where are you?
BATMAN
You lied?
THE JOKER
Oh did I? I guess I did.
BATMAN
Who is this “Big Man”?
THE JOKER
Oh…you know him.
BATMAN
TELL ME!
THE JOKER
It’s a Mister…oh how do you pronounce it?

THE JOKER

BRUCE WAYNE
Ra's but....I thought you said it was over?
RA’S AL GHUL

BRUCE WAYNE

EXT. MIDDLE EASTERN CAMP
Men are chained together, walking down a dirt path. A man in a green suit walks up to one of the prisoners.
RA’S AL GHUL
Hello, Mr. Wayne.
Bruce Wayne turns towards the camera, he has a light beard and is very dirty.
BRUCE WAYNE
Bruce Wayne is dead.
RA’S AL GHUL
Then who am I staring at right now?
Bruce grabs Ra’s.
BRUCE WAYNE
LOOK! Bruce Wayne is dead, that’s that. Now leave me.
Ra’s grabs Bruce Wayne.
RA’S AL GHUL
Your father and mother died that night, not you. You should continue your life.
Ra’s throws Bruce to the ground.
BRUCE WAYNE
My life as Bruce is over.
RA’S AL GHUL
But that doesn’t mean you should quit Gotham.
INT. CABIN
Ra’s and Bruce are sitting on a couch, talking.
RA’S AL GHUL
I will train you. I can.
BRUCE WAYNE
Train me for what?
RA’S AL GHUL
I’ll train you to revive Gotham. Everything could work. You could become my super soldier.
BRUCE WAYNE
What if I don’t?
Two men drop from the ceiling and pull out swords, then hold them to Bruce’s neck.
RA’S AL GHUL
We start tomorrow.
There is a montage of Bruce training. They sword fight, run, and practice many karate moves.
EXT. MOUTAIN
RA’S AL GHUL
Up there, that’s were you need to go.
Bruce runs up the mountain. Ninjas pop out from every corner brandishing swords. He chops at every one of them, knocking them down. Bruce keeps on running; he is almost out of breath. He falls down and cuts his hand on a rock. Blood is all over, Bruce rips his shirt and wraps it around the cut. Finally he gets to the top. Standing in the middle is Ra’s Al Ghul.
BRUCE WAYNE
(out of breath)
How…how…did…you…make...it?
RA’S AL GHUL
How is not the question? Why is. As in why didn’t you beat me.
Ra’s pulls out a sword and slices at Bruce. Bruce pulls out his sword too. They start dueling. After about a minute of fighting Bruce hits his sword with Ra’s sword, the swords both break.
RA’S AL GHUL
This is your plan…to become a symbol, a symbol of fear.
BRUCE WAYNE
How will I do this?
RA’S AL GHUL
You simply apply you fear onto others. Simply swaying there opinion to yours. What is something that you fear?
BRUCE WAYNE

RA’S AL GHUL
Then so it may be. You from here on out will be known as Batman. We shall take down Gotham together.
BRUCE WAYNE
Take down Gotham? What do you mean? I thought you said fix.
RA’S AL GHUL

BRUCE WAYNE

The plan is in motion.
EXT. ROOFTOP
RA’S AL GHUL
Remember now? Do you?
BATMAN
It’s over Ra’s. Tonight you will die. I will watch the blood spill from your body.
Batman leaps at Ra’s slicing him with three Batarangs. Ra’s jumps backwards and he almost falls off of the building. Batman tries to pull him forward, as he does Ra’s leans on a Batarang and it hits him by his heart. Ra’s leans backwards and falls off the rooftop into a lake. Batman looks around and tries to find The Joker. He looks across the street. The Joker is holding a detonator. He pushes the button and the building Batman is standing on explodes. Batman falls down into the rubble of the blown up building.
THE JOKER

INT. GOTHAM NEWS STATION
Summer Gleason is sitting at a news desk reporting the news.
SUMMER GLEASON
Today, it was found out that Bruce Wayne is actually not dead. He was alive and held captive in a Middle East Camp. Now he returns to take over Wayne Enterprises. I will also be accompanying him to the Wayne Enterprises’ Ball.
INT. WAYNE MANOR
Bruce Wayne is sitting in his chair in his room. He looks out the window and the Batsignal shines. He gets up and pulls out a book from the bookshelf. It opens up and he runs down.
EXT. GOTHAM STREETS
The Batmobile roars down the street. Batman launches out of the car and lands on the Gotham Police Station rooftop. James Gordon is on top of it.
JAMES GORDON
You showed.
BATMAN
As long as I'm not arrested.
JAMES GORDON
We'll always have a case for you.
BATMAN
I'll see what I can do for you.
Batman jumps off of the roof.
