We hear "Blood" by My Chemical Romance begin quietly in the background as the screen begins to ascent up a body. Passing the legs, to the body, stopping at the head, where we see a suit hat where the man has bowed his head. He looks up to reveal Alex DeLarge smiling, holding a knife. We then shoot to shots of Alex and his goons reeking havoc, from trashing an art gallery to fighting each other. We see Alex in a dungeon with 3 of his goons tied to the roof. Another one of the goons stumbles on the site and stops frozen, his eyes wide as saucers.ALEX: "I'm sorry, my schedule is all booked out. Call back later please."
Footage of the film flashes on the screen as 'An EGame Entertainment and Warner Bros. Joint Production' comes on the screen. We hear Alex giggle as "Blood" ends, as does the trailer.A CLOCKWORK ORANGEJune 1

Michelle Pfeiffer EXT. DESERTED HIGHWAY - NIGHT Sand for miles, gray sand. The sun has faded and the weather
is cold, one could even call is freezing. A single road
shoots off into the distance. Beside the road walks a man,
you can't really see him well, but he is exhausted, suddenly
a puff of wind blows and the man vanishes. The camera tracks
forward, following the solitary pavement road. Suddenly a
roar is heard as a sleek black car speeds towards the camera
from the distance. The car type is certainly unknown, it's
as plain as the desert as it roars across the plains. The
camera rises and slowly shows a birds eye view of the car
soaring. The film title appears.
LOCAL HERODirected/Written by Andrew Carter EXT. SMALL TOWN - DAWN We see the same car pass a make-shift road sign.
WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS The city that was Las Vegas appears to have turned into desert,
noting but small houses and sheds stand, along with the tops
of buildings that have been semi-buried by sand. Text
appears at the bottom of the screen.
2038 The black car pulls up next to a shed, possibly the largest house
in the area. A man steps out, just an average guy. He wears
jeans, a white singlet and aviator sunglasses. Unlike last
night the sun is in full force and it is hot, damn hot. The
man walks towards the house, but before he can even come
within 10 meters of it 5 young children aged 11-16 run out towards
him, yelling.
CHILDREN (VARIOUS)
ETHAN! YOU'RE BACK! I/WE MISSED
YOU!
The cries of joy bring a smile to ETHAN'S face. The kids cling
onto him as more people appear from the inside of the house.
A older man and woman stand on the front porch. Tears of
happiness drip from their eyes. ETHAN leaves the younger
kids and walks over to the older man and woman. He grins and
hugs the woman.
ETHAN
Oh mom!
LAUREN (MOM)
Ethan! I've missed you!
The older man, clearly the father looks to his son, ETHAN.
THOMAS (DAD)
It's been far too long, son.
ETHAN embraces his father. Both almost at tears.
INT. HOUSE - DAY ETHAN, THOMAS and LAUREN sit at a table while the children play
outside, in the sand.
THOMAS
So tell me, Ethan. What's out
there? Did you find anything...
Anyone?
ETHAN looks down, at his hands.
ETHAN
No.. Well. Yeah. There are people
out there. But everything is in
bad shape. Some places have been
completely buried. Water is much
more rare than what we had
originally thought. And the sand
storms still rage in most area's.
As for the geographical stand point
it's almost impossible to tell
where you are.
LAUREN
Well, what are they doing for
water?
ETHAN
Pipes, thousands of pipes suck the
water from the sand. And moisture
is taken from the earth, but the
quality of the water is horrendous. Things
aren't looking good, mom. And the
storms are growing stronger. I'm afraid
there isn't much hope.
LAUREN breaks down into tears, THOMAS grasps her and. ETHAN looks
out the window to his brothers and sisters. He then pears
off further to see a girl, a beautiful girl. ETHAN stands
and runs to the door.
LAUREN
Ethan.. Ethan? Where are you going?
EXT. FRONT PORCH - THAT MOMENT ETHAN pushes through the screen door and stands on the
porch, looking out across the landscape, all that can be
seen are his younger brothers and sisters, no other girl.
ETHAN turns back to the house.
INT. HOUSE - THAT MOMENT ETHAN enters the house to find his father, THOMAS, standing before
him. A look of angst upon his face.
THOMAS
You saw her. Didn't you?
ETHAN pauses and thinks.
ETHAN (LOOKING UP)
I don't know what you're talking
about.
THOMAS puts his hand on ETHAN'S shoulder.
THOMAS
Son, I know that what you did is
weighing on your mind, but--
In one swift action ETHAN throws his fathers hand of
ETHAN
I've done nothing wrong! I regret
nothing! I was out there, I was out
there trying to help you. Trying to
help them. Trying to help her. And that's
more than what most can say!
THOMAS
I know... I know. But don't stand
there and tell me their weren't
other motives. You can't hide it.
ETHAN
Hide what? There was nothing else
left to do, we needed to know what
was out there, if anyone was still
alive! That's more important
THOMAS becomes enraged.
THOMAS
Than any what? We've been nothing
put supportive, but don't you dare
down play the situation. It's been
hard around here since you left, we've
resorted to horrible depths to
survive. We're scarred for life,
your brothers and sisters will
never be the same, ever! The only
thing that kept them going was the
knowledge that you'd come back for
them. And now that you have, what
have you found out? Nothing we
didn't already know. Resource's are low
and things will get tougher, that
doesn't mean that we don't stop
pushing foward together, and mark
my words boy, you'd better be here
to keep us strong.
ETHAN falls back into a nearby chair. He puts his head in
his hands. He looks up to THOMAS.
ETHAN
Dad. You know I will. But I had to
know! There was no other reason...
I just needed to know.
Giving a look of disappointment, THOMAS shakes his head.
THOMAS
If that helps you sleep at night,
fine. But you're that one that has
to live with what you did to those
two girls. Not me.
ETHAN
"Girls"? She had a girl?
THOMAS nods, ETHAN smiles slightly before the sadness takes over.
The sadness in knowing that he's possibly made a huge
mistake.
INT. BEDROOM - MID-MORNING The room is filled with bunk beds and a few single beds. It
appears to be the kids bedroom. ETHAN lays in a single bed,
waking up from the night before. He sits up in a panic and
looks out the window. The sun is shining. ETHAN breathes and
relaxes until he sees a girl, the same girl the he saw the
day before. He jumps out of bed and rushes to the bedroom
door.
EXT. FRONT YARD - LATE DAY ETHAN runs out of the front door of the house and stands on
the veranda, he sees the girl and knows that she must really
be there. He makes his way to the girl at a fast pace and
stops in front of her.
TAYLOR
I saw the car. Figured you were
back.
She shows no emotion.
ETHAN
Taylor.. I..
TAYLORS face changes as anger takes over.
TAYLOR
You.. You what? You ask me to marry
you and then you walk out? You walk
out on me, pregnant and all!?
ETHAN
You know I had no choice, you know
someone had to find out what was
going on out there.
TAYLOR
And that someone just had to be
you, didn't it? 8 years. 8 years
you've been gone. I thought you
were dead, WE thought you were
dead. And you didn't even have the
balls to let me know, to tell me.
Face it, you didn't leave to see
what was going on. You walked out,
the pressure of a family, your new
family was too much and you
buckled. Everyone knows, your
parents, the whole damn town. The
only one who doesn't is Nicola,
your 7 year old daughter! You flesh
and blood, and you deserted her.
She's grown up without a father and isn't
even aware you exist, we all kept
it from her in fear that you were
dead.
ETHAN breaks down.
ETHAN
I'm sorry. Ok? I'm sorry god damn
it. Yeah, you're right. It was hard
and I couldn't take it! Is that so
wrong? Watching a child grow up knowing
that she'd be dead and gone with
the rest of us before she even
turned 10 killed me inside. What a
waste of a life. I didn't want to
start a family, I don't want to
watch everyone around me die, I
don't want to die. But it's the
harsh reality. Thing's don't look
good, Taylor. Not at all, six
months and were all dead and
buried. What's the point of raising
a daughter?
People begin to walk out of the other houses and sheds that
are in the small area to see what all the commotion is
about. They see ETHAN and realize that he's returned. They
all watch in silence.
TAYLOR
You selfish son of a bitch! We're
all dead? So what? 7 years, 7 sears
you couldn't have had with your
little girl, that's no waste in my eyes!
You walked out 8 years ago and you
lifted this towns hope after the tragedies
of the sand storms. You were
Nevada's hero. Thousands were dead,
but still people believed you'd
bring good news back, 8 years and
they still believed it. But I knew better,
I knew there was no way anything
was going to change, all I knew is
that you were gone. You were gone
and you left me.. You left me
alone.. I'm going to be dead in six
months you said? Guess what, I've
been dead for 8 years... And you
killed me.
ETHAN looks down ashamed. Then he looks back up he sees a small
girl standing behind TAYLOR, the most angel-like girl he's
ever seen. He drops to his knees crying. The girl looks up
to TAYLOR.
NICOLA
Whose that sad man, mommy?
A tears runs down TAYLORS cheek.
TAYLOR
He's nobody. Not to us.
TAYLOR turns and walks away, holding NICOLA'S hand. ETHAN falls
into the sand and a storm starts. It roars across the
screen. Suddenly ETHAN vanishes. Another gust of wind blows
and ETHAN returns, but now he's exhausted, he's the same man
from the start of the film.
