We fade to a flaming plane wreck in the middle of the ocean. Jack appears from under the surface of the water, gasping desperately for breath.
JACK (V.O.)
I didn't know why the plane had crashed, but I knew I needed to survive in any way I could.
We cut to Jack stepping into a large lighthouse. We cut to him stepping into a bathysphere, which descends into the water.
JACK (V.O.)
And that's how I found Rapture.
We cut to a breath taking shot of Rapture, an amazing underwater city, the buildings connected by walkways and bathysphere tracks.
ATLAS
(Over radio)
Welcome to Rapture, boyo!
'Somwhere Beyond The Sea' by Bobby Darin plays. We cut to Jack holding a large radio handset in his hand. Atlas talks in a cheerful Scottish accent.
JACK (V.O.)
An underwater city, built and ruled by businessman Andrew Ryan.
We cut to Ryan sitting in a huge, extravagant office, smoking a cigar.
We cut to Jack in a dark tunnel, knee deep in water, holding a bloodied wrench and looking terrified. Ominous music plays. On the wall ahead of him, the shadow of a strange figure is cast from around the corner.
FIGURE
(Singing hauntingly)
Jesus loves me... This I know...
For the Bible tells me so...
We cut to black. We hear a blood curdling SCREAM.
The acoustic opening of 'Where Is My Mind?' by The Pixies plays. We cut fade to Jack slumped against a wall, exhausted. He speaks into the radio.
JACK
I just want to go home.
ATLAS
(Over radio)
That's easier said than done, boyo, so shut up and get moving.
The drums and electric guitar of the song kick in. We cut to Jack standing in Ryan's office, confronting him.
RYAN
What brought you here, I wonder?
We cut to Jack shining a torch in a dark room. The back wall is plastered in photos of a young child, and the words 'Would you kindly?' are scrawled over them in ten foot letters written in blood.
RYAN (V.O.)
Nostalgia.
We cut to Jack running away from a Big Daddy as it hurtles after him.
We cut to Jack firing a machine gun at hordes of zombie like creatures.
We cut to Jack holding his hands out in front of him, one covered in fire and the other in electricity.
We cut to Ryan, his face mangled and bloodied, screaming at somebody offscreen.
RYAN
A MAN CHOOSES, A SLAVE OBEYS!
We cut to Jack outstretching his hand towards a Little Sister
RYAN (V.O.)
OBEY!
