We see the President of the United States, David Garcia (Nestor Carbonell) addressing the nation from the oval office.
GARCIA
My fellow Americans: war is upon us.
We see nuclear strikes in the middle of the dessert. An Iranian man in a military uniform looks on, pleased.
GARCIA
Our enemies have allied themselves in an effort to destroy us, to destroy freedom.
We see the same Iranian man (the Supreme Leader of Iran) meeting with three men all in military uniforms: one appears Korean, one Chinese, and the other Russian. They shake hands and laugh, smoking cigars.
GARCIA
I am calling for a national draft-we need every able soldier possible. I realize the graveness of this request, but I can assure you I would never give this order if it were not absolutely necessary.
We see Sean McRoberts (Shia LaBeouf), a young (early 20s) sitting at a dinner table with his grandfather, mother, and younger sister, Jessica.
SEAN
Ma, did you hear that?
MOTHER
We've got to get out of here, out of the country, Sean. We've got citizenship in Ireland, we'll-
SEAN
No, mom! I'm not a coward!
GRANDFATHER (grim)
Sean, lad, I fought in 'Nam...I fought against these kinds of men. They're relentless, they're brutal, and they won't hesitate to do anything that helps them survive.
SEAN
I'm not running away...I'm not like my father.
We see Sean holding an M-16 rifle and making his way through shallow water, approaching the shore with a band of Marines, bullets flying all around him. A soldier next to him is hit and drops dead. Sean glances at him for one second, shocked, but continues running.
We see Garcia step down from the podium and walk quickly through a White House hallway. One of his aides, John Nelson (Jay Karnes), walks alongside him. The two walk and speak very hurriedly.
GARCIA
How many?
NELSON
How many what, David?
GARCIA
Your study, how many nukes have they got?
NELSON (hesitating)
Enough to cause a nuclear winter.
GARCIA
We can't let this escalate into a nuclear war. I will not be responsible for-
NELSON
Do you know what Einstein said about World War Three?
Garcia stops and looks at Nelson, annoyed.
GARCIA
No, John, I don't know what Einstein said and I don't have time for this-
NELSON
"I know not with what weapons World War Three will be fought, but I do know that World War Four will be fought with sticks and stones."
GARCIA
Well, we'll just have to prove one of the smartest men in history wrong, now, won't we?
We see Ray Patterson (Grant Bowler), Sean's commander in the Marines, running into a house partially destroyed by rubble. He runs up the stairs, leaping over a large gap, holding his pistol in front of him.
Frank Abbadon (Kevin Durand) steps out from a room behind Ray, quickly smashing his rifle against Ray's skull.
FRANK (smiling)
I wish I could say I was sorry for this, Ray...but now that'd just be a lie.
We see flashes of enormous explosions, Sean running through a battlefield, snapping somebody's neck, and sprinting into that same house.
SEAN (screaming)
Ray? Ray, are you alright?
All is silent as Ray and Frank stare at each other, both weaponless, from ten yards away. They are in a Japanese-looking room. They each look toward the wall, where some weapons are mounted on display. Ray grabs two daggers and Frank grabs a Katana sword from their display mounts.
The two immediately charge at each other, holding their weapons in front of them. As they collide, we FADE TO BLACK.

We see Ray standing over Frank, who has blood running out of his mouth and nose, laying on the floor. He slowly struggles to sit up and finally does.
FRANK
That all you got?
